Here's an idea: How about having a playoff for the 8 BCS teams or even scrapping the conference championships and having a 16 team championship. Think of how that would blow every other sports championship out of the water. As it is, NCAA basketball has a more interesting championship than football despite the fact that college football is much bigger. I would love to see a sixteen team bracket where the champs from the WAC, MAC, MWC, and Conf USA got bids and the majors fought for the other 12. Get rid of the BCS and get a selection committee. College basketball has a formula that works and is ten times more exciting than the BCS. So why can't the BCS pull their collective heads out of their collective rear-ends and realize the potential of a championship tournament.

By the way, I am not sure if the Trojans could win on the blue turf. Boise is getting a raw deal.

You are doing something right when you win that many games in a row. You also get better from playing quality competition. Boise is in a prime situation where they get better every year and are basically ready to "move up" to a bigger conference. Sure, USC would beat them this season, but it's because of coaching and not just athletes, even though Zabransky and the Boise RB are way at the top of the entire NCAA in offense. But then again, I don't know what I'm talking about.

I think that college football needs perhaps a 32 game playoff bracket, with the 8 lowest teams of the 32 and the 8 highest teams not in the 32 would have a 'play-in' game, like the NCAA basketball tourney. Then let the playoffs begin. I think that the BCS could do it, but not by current standards. They need strength of schedule and win over quality opponents back, and basically to put it back to where it was last year to do that. I don't think USC got screwed last year, because defense wins championships. Either LSU or Oklahoma could have manhandled USC last season, but because the media was high on them, they get a co-championship. I wish they would have had an LSU and USC game after that stuff, just so LSU could show everybody that they were for real last year. What gets me this year is that USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, Wisconsin, Boise State, and Utah are all undefeated. That's why they need a playoff system at least involving the 8 BCS teams, but since a lot of that is political, 16 or 32 would be even better.

It is tough game to play that many weeks but I think they do need a playoff system for sure. Always going to get problems with any system they use though.

Hollywood, those kids have 3 weeks off between the end of the season and the bowl games. Please don't be naive enough to write back and say "they need to study for finals".

There's just so many games.. especiialy with a 32 game bracket.. that's 5 more games if you have all 64 teams. Where would you put those (supposing you keep a 11 or 12 game regular season schedule)? in Christmas break? Most breaks are only a little over 3 weeks long, and even then you already rolled over new years day. College football wouldnt be done until right around February. That's a very long time, and keep in mind, these kids have classes to attend, finals to study for, and everything else.

THe only playoff that could be sensible in respect to keeping everything along a simliar timeline as now is a 4 team, which i would have no problem with at all, because even with politics pulling certain teams in, they will have to play high quality opponents so we'll get the best two out of a pool of 4.

Like i said though, that's only to stay on with today's timeline. In reality i think a team playoff would be ideal, giving bids to all conference champions and the rest at larges based on BCS ranking

also, in brackets with a one win and you're out system...often times the two best teams in the nation will not play each other...they'll have an off night eventually through the playoff and get knocked out
