As much as I would love to see PSU regaining its prestige, I would not go there at this time. It just appears to be everyone's favorite whipping boy in the media and the program seems very chaotic. I think those two factors will cause many, many recruits to go elsewhere. It would be great if he went there and the program turned around, but with the way things are currently going, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Morelli, Greg Harrison, Dan Connor, and AQ Shipley all went last year giving PSU its best recruiting class in the last 4 years or so...Top 10 by most "experts". The turnaround is on the way. The defense is there...the offense is terrible. Young talent will go a long way in improving the situation there.

Were they demolished by anybody? Nope, they just can't score. They lost close games to Purdue, Ohio State, Boston College, etc.

I hope you're right coach, but I disagree. Top 10 recruiting class means very little. I posted earlier about the class of 2000 and where they are at today. SAD!!!

I was glad they beat Indiana and hope Indiana chases after Troy H a little more. He can play there. I just hope he gets a chance. I think I have ADD because I can't stay on topic.

To enlighten some of you, McQueary is not the QB coach at all. He only works with the recievers. The Qbs only work with Jaypa.

Mike McQueary, Jay Paterno, what's the difference?

That offense isn't going to change until Paterno gets out of there. He calls the plays, and the playcalling is the number one reason PSU is so terrible. I love how people act like that team has no talent. You can have all the talent in the world, when you run dives 3 downs and punt the football, any defense can stop that crap. It's not too hard to predict what Penn State is going to do. I think it speaks volumes when Kirk Ferentz takes a safety late in the game because everyone on the planet knows that even in a situation where PSU can have a game-winning drive, they definitely aren't going to do it. Mills has shown brightness at times this season, but he's injured and on top of that isn't that great to begin with. Robinson is an athlete who can skate by on a football field, with no real talent at any of the 10,000 positions he plays. They blew Morelli's redshirt, and then didn't even make it a productive move. Mills is out, Robinsin gets blasted, and they play Chris Ganter, who is possibly the worst QB I have seen at Penn State, and that basically says a lot. That team had chances to beat every team they played, especially Wisconsin, and they completely flopped, and that is starting straight at the coaching staff. I mean... I'm not a college football coach, but Joe Paterno has made some VERY questionable decisions in this season alone.

After the past couple of years, I don't put any stock in recruiting classes. Do they have the skills, yes, but do they really want to play hard enough to win? That is another question.

penn state has had nice recruiting classes year after year, but it has never amounted to much recently, he could be a bust he's really small.

this topic is becoming interesting. a few pts i would like to make:

1. psu seems to be in a lose/lose situation with a lot of people regarding recruiting. if they bring in top recruits like justin king or derrick williams, people flame that this guy is too small or that guy doesnt have the passion. but if psu did not get these players, people would flame that the nits cant get the big time recruits any more.

2. yes, penn state has some good talent, at running back and on defense in particular. it is their complete lack of talent or inablility to develop talent at certain positions, like wide out and offensive line, that kills them. the line psu has now is ok at pass protection but poor at run blocking. the catch here is that no matter how much time the qb has to throw the ball, none of the wide recievers cant make a play, either they can't get open or they can't catch. psu brings in good line prospects but they never pan out. psu has never really brought in big time wide out recruits.

3. in the iowa game, i think ferentz took that safety not because the psu offense could not move the ball but because psu's kicker has proven to be very unreliable. the score was 6-4. psu had gotten down into iowa's end of the field several times during that game, but every time was either a missed fg or TO. ferentz knew that if psu was going to score, it would have been by a td not a fg making the 2pt lead and the 4pt lead the same.

4. of the twenty some guys from the highly regarded recruiting class of 2000, only 4-5 of those players are on the psu roster today. CPA would know the exact #'s im sure.

Guys aren't being developed, that is is the problem. I was very critical of Bradley before the season, but he seems to have turned it around finally. It took him 4 years but that's fine, what is important is that he did it. Offensively, let's take a look at this. Galen Hall: first year, no pull, rumors he's so mad he's already going to quit because of Paterno. Joe Paterno: refuses to listen to anyone, coaches like it's 1925, refuses to let people do their jobs. Jay Paterno: QB coach, came up with the concept of never contacting recruits until they contact you first. Mike McQueary: WR coach who was a terrible quarterback himself, hired as a favor, even when there are many, many PSU WR's who were good in college and are now very unemployed.

Is there any surprise that the offense is terrible? Mainly the receivers? PSU has had excellent WR's before. When players don't get developed, it's no one's fault except the coaching staff.
