Frosty,

Pitt...the 5th best team in PA???

4 and 7.

6 and 16 in your last two years.

Sub-.500 in your last 60 games since 1999.

The only bowl PSU has seen in the past several years has been the bumper ball lanes at the Holiday Bowl in Altoona.

Now, crawl back into your hole with JayPa and go back to your PSU message board and continue that discussion that's been taking place since October about the Spring 2005 Blue/White game...While you're at it, pass me some of the $millions$ that Pitt raked in for the BE and the university last night.

Oh yeah, and you wanna talk about the past and some history? Let's go all the way and talk Pitt's National Championships vs. PSUs, shall we?

Let's examine the late 80's and early 90's when Pitt was winning "3 games a year" according to coach:

Mike Gottfried era
1986 5-5-1
1987 8-4 Bluebonnet Bowl
1988 6-5
1989 8-3-1 Sun Bowl

Paul Hackett era
1990 3-7-1
1991 6-5
1992 3-9

Johnny Majors era

1993 3-8
1994 3-8

The 90's were admittedly the worst of times for Pitt football, but the late 80's???????? No 3-win seasons there????

And they've been pretty successful since Harris took over in '97 as well.

I'm not sure why PSU not doing well has to lead people to dissing on Pitt.
PSU has had there day in the sun, and will again, but to say/think they have a better or more storied football history than Pitt is just plain untrue.

The other argument that sickens me is the "academics" argument which is better served for scholasticquizbleachercoaches.com than a sports argument as Pitt is a very reputable school that produces many famous people, doctors, dentists, lawyers, etc. and is certainly no-less reputable than PSU.

Granted I'm not a PSU fan...my early years and not having been "molded" I caught some things that seemed strange, hypocritical, that came from the mouth of ole JoPa and things that happened just didn't sit well so I rebeled against my father and uncles and latched on to Pitt.

I just don't like the "we are better than you" and "holier than thou" mentality that Penn State fans seem to take. No offense to the football program at State but don't take their tough times and pinpoint the "once upon a times" when others (aka: Pitt, WVU, whoever) were "down"...discuss how they can come back and make themselves better.

Pitt needs to apologize to nobody for playing in a BCS Bowl, they did what they were supposed to do and "earned" the bid within the rules and guidelines that were set forth. So give it a break!

Taught, undoubtedly, by JoPa Turno who was living during that era.

Did he ever explain "in class" why he and the Nittany faithful complained about Sir Richard Nixon annointing Texas the 1969 National Champions instead of his undefeated Nits but at the same time turned down a Cotton Bowl bid to play the Longhorns to go "have fun" in Miami. Seems like "having fun" was more important than being #1 so why do the old-timers still complain about that one????

Hum. Last President I remember being Knighted by the
British Empire was Ronald Reagan, not Richard Nixon; Nixon
never being Knighted.

I guess the old saying holds true, "If you can't go to college,
you can go to...."
