I agree the WestPac isn't a very strong conference but there is little Portage can do in terms of being in a conference. What many of you do not realize is Portage on graduates 80 to 85 students a year. Now how do you expect them to compete in the LHAC with AA and AAA schools? Of course Portage wouldn't be successful in the LHAC but either would a team like McCort of Forest Hill be successful in the Mid-Penn Conference. Based on enrollment and geography, there is no other conference for Portage besides the WestPac.

I aqgree, but when Portage fans go and use the word UNSTOPABLE, and they cannot even make it past the first 2 rounds of the playoffs, it just sorta erks some people

And it erks some people that people like you forget that those teams are gone, and this is a new year. I think that most people think that your success one year is determined by how you did in the past. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Look at Berlin Brothersvalley. They were the "UNSTOPABLE" team last year, with Eric D'Carrion in the backfield. Now, flash forward to this season. They're 3-2, with their two losses being total massacres by Portage and Windber. That's just proof that no matter how good (or bad) you were last year, things can definitely change the next year. Just keep that in consideration before you start bashing teams.

I've been to all 5 Portage games thus far, and I can tell you that all of this talk of being overrrated does nothing but motivates these kids. Gary Gouse does a great job of keeping his players minds on what they do on the field, and not all of the talk off of the field, and it shows on Friday nights (and Saturday mornings). Let's face it, they've got a talented set of backs, and a very large but quick offensive line that gets on people and block until the whistle. You can't knock them for that. And hey, look at this week versus Ferndale, their passing game even came out to play a factor in the win. Sure, it was Ferndale, but a win's a win. I just think that people are underrating Portage quite a bit...weird thing is, that's what that football program thrives on.

No doubt, Portage is in the conference that it belongs in. But quit talking smack. They are far from being unstoppable. Just wait til the playoffs when they bow out early like they always do against schools their same class. The only tough program they face every year is Windber.

it's easy to run when you have a few men running amoungst boys.

Rack up 200 yards rushing in the District Title game this year...then you can brag about that.

Whoopin up on Sisters of the Poor is hardly anything to boast about.

BTW...Portage always has a few backs with a ton of yards. It is the system you play in. Coach Grouse does an excellent job, you are a part of the system. Realize that.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Another year and the same results for the Mustangs. Unbelievable stats against teams that they should have unbelievable stats against.

Question is, when will Portage beat someone that they, perhaps, should not beat i.e., Windber?

Not this year Mustang fans.....and I'm one of the biggest.

Windber -15 @ Portage

Portage +15 @ Rd.1 Playoff Opponent
