Let's be a little bit fair here, and give Pitt this: Heinz has bright yellow seats. If no one shows up, it looks worse because all the yellow stands out. Now, even giving that to Pitt, 33,000 is a laugher for homecoming. Pitt and Syracuse have a decent rivalry. They've been playing them every season since the early eighties, and it's not like Syracuse is as bad as Temple. Well... maybe this year they are. Offensively, at least. I still can't believe they ran that ball 3 plays and then punted when they were on their own 1. Are you even gonna TRY for a first down? Three plunges into the line. Nice style. But then again, if Perry Patterson was my QB...

When they showed the empty stadium during that game, my eyebrows actually stood up. I'm sure all those kids on visits are really impressed.

Let's take a look at the big picture here. When Penn State was having a few bad seasons, Pitt's attendance went up, did it not? PSU's attendance, however, only dropped from 106K slightly downward. Those people who are not die-hards and not die-hard college football fans started going to Pitt games. Then, Pitt lost to Ohio and Rutgers. Penn State, however, is 7-1, and packing Beaver Stadium to the gills with 110K screaming fans. Heinz went from 60K to 35K. That's a home-attendance drop of 25,000 people!!! And Syracuse really is not that far from Pittsburgh, it's not like they were playing Washington. PLUS it was homecoming! What does that tell you? When PSU does well, nobody cares about Pitt. Even when you had a few seasons over .500, those years were not enough to really steal any fans from Penn State. When Penn State does well, Pitt suffers, because they are nowhere near the same prestige level. Nobody cares about Pitt. You can like it or you can love it, but the truth is a beautiful thing. This enormous turnaround and this fantasy land you all forsee coming down from the clouds because of Dave Wannstedt... you people better wake up and read the writing on the wall. It's going to take a hell of a lot more than 8-3 seasons to kickstart that program. You also need Penn State to start going 4-7 every year for about 20 years.

I don't care about who has crossed Pitt off their list. As long as it is not any of the 17 early commits. With those 17 and a few more sprinkled in here or there, Pitt will have close to a top 10 recruiting class.

Funny. When you PSU'ers can't defend what you say, or stick the the subject, you always go back to attendance at games and making MONEY. SO WHAT!!! Pitt has 14 verbals from Western PA kids. And playing for your hometown gives you a base. It's something special. Heck, it was Homecoming at McCort last night. Where were all their fans???? It was an ugly weather day at Pitt, game on TV. Game at noon. If I would have had season tickets I might have stayed home too. Doesn't mean that Pitt fans aren't interested in their team. Just how the situation played out.

What good is stadium size or attendance to a player anyway. Do you think on game day that Austin Scott wakes up and says, "Hey!!! I gonna ride the pine in front of 100,000 people today. Ain't I lucky?" If he would be at Delaware for example, he'd be playing every minute of every offensive series in front of 22,000 fans. What's better? Anybody who chooses a college because of the size of their stadium, or their attendance, is superficial. There are about 110 kids on PSU's team. How many ever play alot? Sitting in a big stadium doesn't make it any better.

No, but sitting in a big stadium behind a top 10 team in the Nation makes all the difference. You go ahead and tell all those kids that went to the Ohio State game and were very impressed with the atmosphere that if they choose to got there to have that much support 7 times a year, that they're superficial. Good call Moldo, good call. I guess you missed that the NW MSU game was in MSU this weekend too, another thing where you are totally WRONG!

Heaven&Hoops,

17 2 and 3 star recruits will not give you a top 10 class, ever.

So it's O.K. if you don't play, as long as the ATMOSPHERE is right? Did you hit your head recently or what. If you're riding the pine, you think it's more fun if your team is winning, or the crowd is really cheering, or that there are alot of people watching. Gee, you're not hard to please. Most kids would be down a little about not playing, whether it's at St. Francis or Tennessee. As Austin Scott has been saying, "Hey, I might not be playing, but isn't this crowd great? Hope my parent's in the stands aren't frustrated by coming to these games to see me sit. But my God, the ATMOSPHERE!!!!"

ATTENTION: ALL HIGH SCHOOL RECRUITS. Pick a school with a good stadium atmosphere. You may never see the field that much, but you'll have a good time riding the pine. Your folks will have a good time too. It's all in the ATMOSPHERE!!!

Its the chance that you may get to play....you WANT to be a part of it.

Only a few good guys should go to every school....you almost always fail to make any sense and once again...I agree.

One thing's for sure...they get a college education paid for. And PSU graduates (since most players graduate) have good ties throughout the country. Everyone knows that connections are what makes the world go round.

I hope no PSU recruits were watching that Michigan game. Now that's a game that would make you not want to go somewhere. Bad coaching. Bad defense. Bad loss. Henne to Manningham with 0:00 left on the clock. Wow, that has to leave a bad taste in your mouth.
