LOL!!!! Texas played a tougher schedule than Virginia Tech!!! What have you been smoking??!!

The BCS computers thought Texas was number 1, but after playing Oklahoma State, that strength of schedule is sure to come down. Besides, Virginia Tech has played some tough teams, like Boston College and Georgia Tech. They'll play Miami, and they'll play Florida State (assuming ACC title game) which will put their strength of schedule way above Texas. Texas' strength of schedule is reliant on Texas Tech (who we still have no idea how good they truly are) and Ohio State. Other than that, Texas has played complete and total patsies.

They WILL play. WILL. They didn't play, yet. I said to this point. You must not have seen a Texas game yet this year. Let me guess. You think Vick is a better QB right now than Young, too right? Go back to watching PSU games.

How do you figure with Texas' remaining schedule that they play a better schedule than Virginia Tech?

No, I said to this point last week that Texas' schedule was tougher. VTech schedule is definitely a lot tougher now. Maybe you guys need a pair of glasses or to go to school to learn how to read. Let me restate. VTech's schedule is tougher. I've said that the whole time. I had said to this point in the season last week. Before the BC game. Before Texas played OSU. Got it?

Ok, then let's see up to that point in time.

Texas schedule, weeks 1-8
Louisiana-Lafayette
@ Ohio State
Rice
@ Missouri
Oklahoma
Colorado
Texas Tech

Virginia Tech schedule, weeks 1-8
@ NC State
@ Duke
Ohio
Georgia Tech
@ West Virginia
Marshall
@ Maryland

Up to week 8, Texas played on the road twice, while VT played 4 games on the road. Texas played two decent teams, those being Ohio State and Texas Tech, while Virginia Tech played West Virginia. So Texas has played one more quality team, MAYBE, since none of us know how good Texas Tech really is, and since Texas Tech made themselves look really bad with a loss to Texas. Texas holds the edge, though West Virginia is looking better than Texas Tech at this point. That is mainly due to playing at the Horseshoe.

They each played two cupcakes, though admittedly one of VT's cupcakes is in the conference schedule, so it wasn't really their choice, but still. Texas chose to schedule Rice and LA-Lafayette, while VT had Ohio anda game at Duke (which is in the ACC) on the slate for easy wins. VT's cupcakes are a smidgen harder to chew, as far as cupcake quality (if there is such a thing).

Otherwise, Texas played Oklahoma, Colorado, and at Missouri. Virginia Tech played at Maryland, at NC State, and Georgia Tech. So for those 'other' games, Virginia Tech definately has the edge as far as in conference competition. Oklahoma is down, and the 2 Big 12 North teams stink, while Maryland, NC State, and Georgia Tech are all mid level ACC programs. Only 1 of Texas 3 teams, Oklahoma, could probably beat all three of VT's 'other' opponents.

So overall, up to week 8, call it a draw. Texas played one good team on the road, while Virginia Tech played an overall harder schedule outside of that. And right now, VT's schedule is getting harder, while Texas' schedule is 2 relatively easy wins with one halfway decent team, at least relatively speaking (Texas A&M).

What does it really matter? Unless Texas somehow finds a way to botch a game here in the last 5 weeks of the seaon, they will face off vs. USC for the National Championship. Virginia Tech would have to beat thier remaining opponents 50-0 to vault over Texas or USC.

That's the great injustice of the BCS system, and also the great advantage to Texas for starting 2 in the coaches poll and the AP poll, so that when the Harris poll came out, they all followed suit and put Texas at two. That's not going to change unless they lose, as you said. If Virginia Tech had started at two, Texas would be getting screwed instead.
