well fortunately for me, since im a sacred heart fan, if spaid is going to "fit in good there" i should get used to watching drew shubik and the pioneers win the next couple of years, so i guess i shouldnt be mad a bobby jones i should be proud of the crappy job he has done. haha

It is official......Spaid is a Frankie!

Congratulations Randy. It is always great to see any local kid get the chance to continue their athletic careers in college, especially on the D1 level. I am positive that the recruiting of Hoffman and Spaid will help SFU attendance considerably, I may look into purchasing a season ticket for next season.

Again, congratulations to both Kurt and Randy.

My 2 cents.......I have to agree with others who wonder why, if a certain small-school 6-8 player is so good, how DID a team like BERLIN defend him and beat Portage? I, too, have to think back to Len Chappell. Now there was a MAN among kids! If you are that size and have such talent, your team should be dominant, unless there are reasons he isn't getting the rock enough. OK, he can drain 3's, but if again, you are 6-8 you should be posting up all the runts every chance you get! I hope he is able to succeed at D1, but I believe he is a BIG project. Now- the other SFU recruit, Hoffman. After seeing him last year several times, and after tonight against the Rangers, Hoffman is another real reach for SFU. First of all, his size. He is listed 6-6. No way. Phil Trout probably is a true 6-5, maybe even stretching that by a fraction, and he was taller standing next to Hoffman on the free throw lanes. When Hoffman was standing next to Danny Myers, who was listed 6-3, but maybe stretching a fraction to 6-4, they looked to be pretty even! FH doesn't play what I would call physical defense, yet Hoffman was clearly frustrated by the FH D, and got highly agitated when there was ANY contact against him. What the hell is he going to do against the BIG COLLEGE boys when they start muscling him around? He's a lefty, and has a nice but not deadly shot, but way undersized for a D1 forward. They'll eat his lunch for him. BTW- he did show a little sportsmanship on one play where Phil Trout stuffed him clean when he took it to the rack, and he turned and said something like "nice block". On another note, how about Danny Myers hitting for 37 tonight? A shame we didn't have any more offense to go with him. That's another thing- if Hoffman is good enough to go D1 @ SFU, then the way Myers played tonight, Mike Krszcewski (?) from DUKE should be calling any time now. I watched the first half of the second game between McCort and Greensburg CC. GCC was up 8 or 9 at the half, and neither team impressed me. Last years BM team was better, and it was overrated.

Who is Spaid's dad? Isn't there a tennis coach at St. Francis who's last name is Spaid?

I could be wrong, but I believe the tennis coach is FRANK Spaid, of Ebensburg, formerly of St. Michael many years ago.

I've seen both Hoffman and Spaid play and neither one is worth a free ticket to Saint Francis. Since Kurt was a sophomore I thought he was a lock to go to UPJ, and WHEN Bobby Jones is fired in the next four months maybe we'll see if my early prediction rings true. Spaid is indeed a few steps slower than just about anyone 6'6" or less in the commonwealth. Randy would be a better fit at Cal (PA), Lock Haven, Ship. Lance Loya would love to have him at the Mount.

not sure who all you experts are but I have seen both of these kids play and I have seen SFU play every home game for the last 4 years. Both of these kids fit in very well at SFU. Granted they are not the next D Luckey or even a Jason Osborne, but look at the players SFU is getting Grant Surprenant a spot up shooter. Spaid can do that trust me. How about J.R. Enright Hoffman is 2 maybe 3 hell maybe 4 inches shorter same touch but is more physical than this cornhusker reject. I think Bobby J. will be around for a few more years and I think these local kids will fit in nicely. Not going to win the conference with them but may put some butts in the seats.

I think you are right upside. Shade beat CV. Portage lost to Berlin at Spaid had 11. I would say my point still holds up.
