Could it have been PITT?

Hey like MLK, I had a dream! All the nitters were crying.....they finally beat Michigan and thought they were going to get the invite for the BCS championship....but the voters relayed > "in good conscience, we cannot send any squad that scheduled Buffalo, Temple, Fla. Int. and Ferndale in the same year"!!! (Remember Auburn a couple yrs ago?).....was it just a dream??

I do believe it was PITT that UCONN beat last year. Last year PSU only lost to top-notch teams (Notre Dame, Michigan, OSU, and well Wisconsin). Would you rather have a great record because you beat mediocre teams, because as bdftbllham55 said, it gets you nowhere. And as for the PSU defense this year. . . . stellar! One of the best, if not the best secondarys in college football. The line could be a little shaky, but we will have to wait and see.

I will give PITT props on their 2 tailbacks this year though (LeSean McCoy and LaRod Stephens-Howling). Definately some talent there, but I am anxious to see what A. Scott has to show for PSU this season, should be exciting.

TAE, are you really saying that Penn State's defense will be as good as the OSU defense of 2002? You really have no idea what you are talking about. That team held a Washington State team that went to a BCS bowl to 7 points. They held Penn State to 7 points (and Larry Johnson to -1 yards rushing in the 2nd half). They held Michigan to 9 points. They held Purdue to 6 points. Every time they had a big game, their defense was awesome. In my years watching, Penn State has never fielded a defense that would rival them. They certainly won't this year.

And why is that, Wildcat?

You're the biggest homer on this site and all you do is point fingers at Penn State. Speaking of teams this season, Ohio State didn't look too BCS worthy.

Wildcat speaks as if he already knows the outcome of this years games.

Question, Wildcat,

Where did OSU have to play most of those big games at? I know for sure PSU was in the 'shoe. I believe Michigan was too. Don't begin to take away what an advantage homefield is, especially in the Big10.

Penn State's only real big road test is in Michigan this year, and they've already proven that they can be beat there.

Ask your Buckeye's what it's like to have 115,000 of the loudest fans in the sport in a huge game at Beaver Stadium. It happened in 2005 and it will happen again.

And get ready to watch a new brand of defensive football from the Nittany Lions this year. I saw more things on Saturday that I would have never thought to see PSU or Bradley attempt at any point in the season, let alone the first game.

I completely agree. There were so many good signs in that game, it doesn't matter who they played against. It's not opponent, it's philosophy.

Even with all of those screaming fans, Penn State still only won by 4 points and managed less than 200 yards of offense. Now, they did win the game, but it's not like they were dominant. I am not sure what you can figure out by watching Penn State and Ohio State play the kind of competition that they played on Saturday. We will find out over the course of the game. By the way, in the past 5-6 years Ohio State has won at Penn State, at Michigan twice, and at Texas so it is not just a home field thing. The 2002 team did get all big games at home, but that is the luck of the draw. As for the home field thing, Penn State is miserable away from home. They have not scored more than one touchdown in a game at the shoe since joining the Big 10. That is pathetic.

17-10=4? No, 7. Thanks.

I'm not taking anything away from OSU in 2002. I was just saying, comparitively on a scheduling basis alone, OSU 2002 is very very very similar to PSU 2007. Don't knock it before you've seen it.

And I don't care what they've done at the 'shoe in the past. The Buckeye's have to travel to PA once again this year. What they do there is a moot point, because they don't go there! Stop bringing that up.

We've done well against OSU overall. Certainly better than the rest of the Big Ten. If OSU has trouble winning in Happy Valley, and PSU has trouble at the Horseshoe, that just adds to the drama. We have a pretty good rivalry with Ohio State.
