Tire Slashings @ Ridge vs. Bedford
Here's the scoop on the latest about this. I had 2 tires slashed that night, and am glad they caught the idiot that did it. I just got a mailing the other day saying that Heister is to plead quilty on June 14. I plan to be there to see the lenient punishment our judge will give him. My insurance covered all but $50, so I'm not out much, but I want that $50 check from him just for the principle. There was an earlier post about 75 vehicles and then less than 50. Let me tell you, it was closer to 75. I think a lot of people with just 1 tire slashed did not report it, and a lot left after putting on the spare because they didn't want to stand out in the freezing cold to give their statement (the police made us line up by the cruisers OUTSIDE instead of going into the gym????).
Heister got nailed for a DUI the night before his prelim hearing on this. Not sure if he's still in the pokey or not.
I refuse to believe that he did this alone though. I know two of the other kids that was accused of being involved, and I'll just say that I wouldn't put it past them.
And you all will like this. I saw the police talking to Heister that night, and the idiot was standing out there with no coat on. I will say that he's lucky the police got to him before that crowd did. But all were really jacked when the police left the jerk drive home while the rest of us stood outside to help change tires and give statements to the police.
What ticked me off the most about this was that I had my family there. My kids are young, and something like this really upsets a kid when it happens to them.
With that said, let me tell you about the quality of 99% of Ridge people. A neighbor took my wife & kids home while I waited to give my statement. Another neighbor waited on me for 1.5 hours, but wasn't able to take me home because by then the road to my house had drifted shut (my wife called me on my cell). Another friend with 4 wheel drive who was at the meet, ran a "taxi" service all night taking people home, including me. After dropping me off he went back to take more home. And another friend who was getting his vehicle towed saw to it that they came back and towed mine. That's the Ridge people I know - not those couple of punks with nothing better to do.
So, some of you can say what you want about Ridge. But the true colors of Ridge people is explained in the paragraph preceding. Most will do whatever to help someone.

i just want to apologize to anyone that i might have offended by saying that ridge got black labeled by bedford, i personally did not feel this way, i know quite a few people from ridge and i must admit they are DARN nice people. i was just pointing out that in the days following the incident several people looked at the entire ridge area the same as they did the culprits

Yes, this happened back in January (one of the coldest nights of the winter with a wind chill near or below zero) at the Ridge/Bedford wrestling match. I have to be honest, when it first happened and I saw my vehicle was one that got nailed, my initial reaction was that someone from Bedford was ticked off because they lost and went outside to do this. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was a Ridge kid and it had nothing to do with the match. Totally random on the vehicles. I talked to some high school kids who knew the kid and they said this guy has been trouble for a long time, takes drugs, and has a fragile home life.CRLionDawg wrote:I gather this happenned out at Fishertown. That is terrible, it makes you wonder what else this person might be capable of doing.
The positive thing is that a lot of good neighborly acts were demonstrated bringing civility to the community. Trust nothing like this will happen again.

Well, the slasher got some additional jail time for this. I was at the court hearing yesterday and a lot of what this guy said really didn't add up. In fact, I believe that Judge Howsare didn't quite agree with everything he said either about not remmembering what happened that night. That could be why he got the higher end of the sentence. The public defender asked for time served, and th DA asked for 9 months to 2 yrs or something like that. He ended up with 8 months to 2yrs with credit for time served, and his DUI is to be served concurrently. He is also required to pay back the 11k plus in damages, but I'll be surprised if I ever see a penny of it.
Heister did apologize to everyone, but to be honest, it didn't seem sincere. It seemed to me that he was only saying he was sorry to try to help get himself a lighter sentence. I did get to speak my peace, and pointed out that if he was that high on drugs that he can't remember what happened, why in the world would the police let him drive home that night. The judge seemed surprised that he was allowed to drive home that night.
I don't know if it was his girlfriend, sister or what, but a young lady was leaving the courtroom the same time as me complaining that he got the 8 months and how ridiculous that was. I didn't want to cause her any more grief because she was very upset, but I thought to myself that 8 months with credit served seems a just punishment for a 3rd degree felony and almost 12k in damages, and that what he did was what was ridiculous.
