Oh...NO DOUBT the LHAC is tougher. I am just defending the ICC, saying it isn't terrible either.

Gunner: You missed my point. It bothers me when anyone (bdfbllham55 in this case) runs down another league or another team to make their own look better and I tossed out the Bellwood thing.
Bedford competes where they are very nicely...the LHAC works well for them. They've never been in nor would they ever want in the ICC...different geography and for the most part, smaller schools. And the ICC is a very competitive small school league just like the LHAC is a very good and very competitive mid size school league. They are comparable in that respect, my opinion.
NB, TM, Evt are great ICC fits. C.Ridge is probably a better ICC fit than LHAC although I would be lying if I didn't say that their male enrollment figure the next 2 year cycle turned some ICC Athletic Director's heads (and probably made them wonder what the heck we were thinking when we admitted them!) but as Southpaw has pointed out, that is apparently a 2-year aborrition and will become "normal" again after that.
My point is that in football (Ridge could be debated probably) schools are were they should be and competing quite nicely.
The only debatable subject is Bedford in the BCL vs the LHAC. There is where I had a problem. Nobody should be dissing the SHL from Bedford. Bedford did by no means dominate the BCL. They were however, rarely in the bottom half of the league standings in anything. They were the most consistent which fits with their enrollment but by no means dominated by winning championships in any one sport as you would think they might have.

Famous Quotes for $1000 Alex:
About giving 100%
The bisons will be very determined to play an actual 4 quarters of football not the normal 2 or 3 that they have played in the past!
In regards to CC playoff game:
And all im gonna say is that if Bedford doesnt win, which you seem to be pretty sure is going to happen, CC and the fans that are at the game will know that they were in a game. Thats a promise. For the whole bedford squad the goal after week 3 has been to get back to FH for another shot at them, the road to Sidman runs through Ebensburg, hopefully the bisons will make it there and beyond.
Bedford really showed em that night!!
On the McCort game:
Bedford will play very inspired on friday, Coach Swaim has been saying that we have a playoff game this week, and in fact it is, when we win on friday, and i emphasize when…
These took me a couple of minutes to find. Would you like me to look for some more?
I wasn't an all star. Never said I was. My problem with some Bedford people is that you are giving Bedford a black eye at times. I've said it one hundred times, and I'll probably keep saying it. Humility is not a bad thing.
As for the rest of the discussion. Bedford and Ridge are in the conferences they should be in. I do wish Bedford had the BCL rivalries still going, in football and other sports. It always seemed like the other county schools brought their 'A' game for Bedford. And Bedford didn't like losing to other county schools in anything either. Heck, even the Hyndman/Bedford basketball games were interesting.
Bellwood is the one football team that I think has Bedford's number. We've only beat them a few times. The first game between the two in 1986, Bedford was leading like 35-0 at half, and lost 36-35. I always felt that set the tone for the series b/w the two. They lost 21-20 in 1987 and 28-22 in 1988 when Bellwood was ranked #3 and Bedford #4 in the state. The winner made the state playoffs, the loser went home. Very exciting, back and forth game. That game and the playoff game a couple years ago were the best high school games I have ever seen. Bedford finally got a win with the great 1989 team. That's my history lesson for today.
And Ridge will have another good season next year. With any luck, we will get to see that Ridge vs. Bedford playoff game.

It would be intersting to have some of the better informed CR fans chime in here and give us an update on how the 04 football team will look. What are they losing from graduation. WHo will step up to replace them?
What is the scoop?
I dont blame Bedford for coming across as being arrogant. They have earned the right to be.
And as far as CR fans being humble. That isnt quite the word I would use.
As far as accepting defeat. That doesnt happen either. Just sit in the stands and take a listen.

Just read all the pages on this thread. What a blast! What comes across is a mutual pride in one's respective teams and supporters, with the exception of Dawg, whose negative opinion of the collective Ridge psyche is remarkable.
From my point of view, this is the healthiest the entire Ridge sports program has been in a long time. And as for football -- well its success is based on a variety of factors: interest generated by the youth league (take a prop, Dawg), a stellar junior high program, a group of maturing coaches, and a bunch of kids who have worked hard and discovered that they can really play.
Reading these posts proves this. Whether or not Ridge is on par with Bedford is fun to discuss but pointless until they play each other. I, for one, am just glad there's a positive spirit in the district when it comes to sports -- which at times hasn't always been the case.
But that's not good enough for you, is it Dawg? You want to uncover this malaise that, according to you, pervades Lion Country and keeps us from greatness. You ask Gunner to describe the Ridge fan base. What word were you hoping he'd come up with? At least Gunner didn't take the bait -- but really, what would you expect a supercompetitive athlete to say about an opponent's fans? He's been booed by them for years, for God's sake! -- which is, of course, a tribute to him.
Dawg, you seem to be trying to pick open a scab that's healed. I would think you'd be happy -- at least for a lot of great kids who compete now with pride.
