LV school district runs from Stahlstown to Seward (about 35 minute drive), surely Westmont and Ferndale could deal with coming together across 3.5 blocks

Blacklick Valley and Conemaugh Valley are literally 9.5 miles (15 minutes) down the street from each other on 271. Not sure why they aren't merged together.

Chestnut Ridge school district covers from the far side of Blue Knob Mountain to West End which between New Baltimore and Berlin. Google maps drive time is over an hour. It's been this way for 60 years and magically everyone has survived.

Richland is only about seven miles away from Greater Johnstown.  And about five to Windber.  Get it done!

Is there enough room in either high school to accommodate all the students?  Central Cambria School District sits between the two.  These CC kids live closer to both BV and CV than CC.  CV kids in Cover Hill live closer to Johnstown and Ferndale than they do CV.

It is what it is. Kids in Eureka #42 are maybe 3 miles from Windber but go to FH because it would involve crossing county lines. Richland school is only 8 or 9 miles from FH- should they combine? Kids from near Mineral Point are closer to CV or maybe even CC, yet attend FH. No 1 formula will satisfy everyone.
It ain't over until it's over.

Growing up I had a friend who lived along Rt. 53 (outside of  Wilmore); he could  see Portage High School from his front porch but attended FH    There are a few Claysburg students who have a Portage address.  Sometime it just doesn't make sense

Yea, from New Baltimore to Berlin was a hike on the school bus too, as is Fairhope and Glencoe to Berlin. These students would be fine, more time to do homework on the bus

Do county lines matter in school districts? I know some school districts in Westmoreland county reach into Allegheny county? Same with Blairsville-Saltsburg, it's Indiana and Weatmoreland counties.

So why couldn't Richland, Forest Hills, Windber just be one massive school district?

I actually think the CV/BV consolidation would be real simple.  One school houses 6-8 and the other 9-12.  I think even doing that there is more than enough room in both schools.  You still would only need 1 principal per school because size wouldn't be too big.  and 1 superintendent could over see the district.
