Defensively we need an overhaul of younger talent because taking on old guys only leads to bad contracts, aka pronger, and Vincent lec looks to be the bonehead move of the past few seasons. If they make the play offs It will be a testament to giroux and that first line carrying them
Yeah, lecavalier is definitely the bone head move and everybody but flyers fans seemed to notice that before it happened.

I agree the flyers would be in even more trouble hadn't they had players like Voracek, Mason and Giroux but honest to god Giroux is in some respects part of the problem. He doesn't hold himself accountable for anything, if his leadership is so great where is he after all these losses adjusting, making changes to his game, or even finding his way in the scoresheet consistently if nothing else. Yeah, Giroux's a top tier player, he's in my top 5 in the league but in terms of leadership, he doesn't even fall in the top 20 of guys with a C. He really needs to improve himself as a vocal force (by vocal force I don't mean bitching to the media about Sidney Crosby slashing his wrists on "every faceoff", I mean he needs to rally his team, especially in times like these), he needs to find more consistency, and he needs to stop setting the horrible examples of dumb retaliation he always does. He is such a little spitfire, take the body dude, don't hit somebody from behind after they hit you head on clean.

Lot needs done if Philly wants to see a cup anytime soon. Start with your C, work your way down to your Dmen worth 5 mil a year that aren't even worth 1 mil.

He called in and made the Lidstrom comment and defended Fleury but ripped him the exact same way you do and it just hit me that it had to be you haha

Niemi is as good as any. Hate these western time zone games by the way.

I've seen the Lidstrom reference made several times.... I can't take credit for that.

I've never really ripped Fleury either... but wasn't me anyways.

Steve Downie has to be the healthy scratch come playoff time. When he's in the lineup, the pens might as well start the game on a 4+ minute penalty kill. Adams kills penalties, downie takes them.

Was thinking about him earlier Abpk, 195 minutes...I just wonder how much more productive he would be if he didn't spend a quarter of his ice time in the box.

MAF keeps his hopes alive for a Vezina, numbers are great on the backstretch of the season: 30 wins, 2.14 GAA, .925 SV%. A couple more strong outings and a good postseason and anything is possible.

Right now, in my opinion, Price is the only goalie better than him. I don't believe Rinne has him beat because of the cavalry of defenders Nashville has. Same can be said for Crawford. Schneider and Holtby have both been great but they kind of have to be considering how many shots they face because both their teams are pretty much trash defensively. Lundqvist has been average than what he normally is IMO.

So let's hope fleury can keep it going.

It's a regular season award that is voted on before the playoffs start...

Schneider and the NJD currently have a top 10 defensive team in the league, according to GA/G. I'll give you that NJD isn't a very good team but they certainly aren't bad on defense. Same with Holtby... the Caps rank 6th in the league in GA/G. Sure some of that is because both goaltenders are playing good hockey but I certainly wouldn't classify either team as "trash defensively"

I think MAF will be a finalist but at this point it's going to take a monumental collapse for Carey Price not to walk away with the award. He essentially has the triple crown for goaltenders right now... GA/G, Save % and Wins. Tough to argue with that.
