is there something wrong about a jr. high team that has the same number of losses in a 4 year period as the varsity team does in a single season?

Gunner,

generally there are 2 issues here.

1. There are some serious issues with the HS program. Lack of quality training, lack of focus by the coaches, lack of support by the administration, unnecessary political meddling by the school board, etc.

2. Some of the Jr High Players would be better suited to play on a JV squad. Sure a freshman athlete will excel playing against other freshman and 8th graders, but they would do better and be challenged playing on JV where their skills would be developed.

It is repulsive to witness the amount of political meddling that goes on. What a waste of some good talent because of the politics!

im confused.... politics?? meaning coaches dont play kids because of issues other than their football ability? like the saying "he played because he's a teacher's kid' ???? is that what your referring to? if you ask me, a coach's job is to play the best kids that are on his team. it's not a popularity contest and it's not AYSO where everyone gets to play. The object is to win, not to please the parents. and if you are winning, and the administration is mad because their kid isnt playing, then find some new administrators, and if you are losing because the coach is playing kids that shouldnt be playing because of 'politics', find a new coach....just WIN

i remember quite a few bedford football stories where certain kids played simply because of thier last name, granted they were good players so its not like they were strictly in there because of their name but if they were tied in ability with another player with a lesser name, the lesser name would be riding the pine.

Now gunner, come on, that doesn't happen at Bedford. Not in football or baseball either...

I disagree with you guys on this one. I played and helped coach at Bedford and I feel the best kids always played. I know its nice to play the whole politics card if you aren't good enough and you need an excuse for why you aren't in there but when it comes down to it the best kids play. You don't have the success Bed. has in football year in and year out by playing favorites. Those who work the hardest and perform the best play.

two kickers...
kicker A puts kickoffs inside the 5, kicker B is lucky to break the 20
kicker A hits 60 yard field goal, kicker B has career long of 42
kicker A rides pine pony and watches kicker B miss PAT's
