Re: LHAC 2008
A lot of people have trouble understanding the concept that people have fought & died for freedom of choice. That should be your pride & joy there patty, not Hate!pats39 wrote: stealing a seasoned player

Re: LHAC 2008
I dont know if I would call Merriman a seasoned player. He has a lot of disicipline problems and doesnt like to listen to authority, so I would hope KS would turn that around. The only good thing he does is run hard, thats about it. Personally, I dont see how he fits into the running game because they have speedy guy in Lowry and a power back in Wadley. The only place he might play is linebacker and he has a lot of work to go on that position.
Who does BM have at that position this year?

Re: LHAC 2008
colonel a season play definitely, leading rusher on team for two straight years, having over 1200 yards rushing so far in career, started since freshmen year, if thats not a definition of a steal I do not know what is. Would not be a surprise if McCort did some Triple Option offense, with Merriman as fullback and two speedy solid backs Wadley and Lowery into the wingbacks. Actually may be surprised, Salem is not known for opening up his offense exactly (See 2004 and 2005 seasons), although Air Jordan still likes to claim that his spread offense familairity will lead him to greatness at Mount Union, not that it matters now seeing as how he also claims him and his number one target quit before even trying.
And you see Vman, the reason the transferring disgusts me is because this is a yearly thing for Carrol and McCort, having solid proven athletes tranfer in to their school. Sure you may be able to name a couple JV athletes at McCort that left for Richland, Westmont and so fourth, but these are isolated instances and do not continue to happen. Whens the last time you heard of a 1000 yard plus rusher or 500 point basketball scorer transfer out of a Catholic school?

Re: LHAC 2008
You said it yourself, you dont see a reason for him transferring, neither does anyone else. That includes the BM coaching staff!
Why hate BM over this?
Oh yeah, hate them for w/e reason you can find!

Re: LHAC 2008
Wadley is not a power back, as I think someone said earlier. He has decent speed but is far to east-west-inclined and seemed to shy away from contact when i saw him play, not deliver blows as a power back should.
If I'm BM, I put Merriman on a tight leash. KS should sit down with him and say that this is already an established program, so a decent player transferring in for one year means zero in the grand scheme of things. I'd tell him that he must come in, attend everything as everyone else does, and any discipline problems and youre out. The only thing he's gonna do ON the field is help the Crushers (rather have more ponies in the stable than none) so it'd be a shame if his OFF the field problems would get in the way of him having a good year for BM.

Re: LHAC 2008
Yeah he (Wadley) only carried 5, maybe 6 guys from the 10 down to the 1 yard line...no power there...
As for Merriman to TE, maybe a good call! Listed on Maxpreps at 6' - 202lbs as long as he can block. Not sure how much passing the Crushers will do this season...
As for someone asking who will fill the void at RB next season, it would be none other than J. Seidel --Looked impressive against other Sophs at the tailend of games...
The Crushers WR corp will be fun to watch. They have 3 quick wide recievers in Schrey, Domokos, and Ingram. I wont be surprised if Ingram has the type of season Domokos had last year (filling in at #3 where teams tend to forget about).

What a whining, miserable person you are! Here you take a shot at a record setting, awesome hs qb & one of the toughest athletes ever from this area, who happened to make first team all state!!So they chose not to continue fb collegiately.pats39 wrote:although Air Jordan still likes to claim that his spread offense familairity will lead him to greatness at Mount Union, not that it matters now seeing as how he also claims him and his number one target quit before even trying.
Let's hear of your athletic accomplishments patty???

Re: LHAC 2008
Merriman doesnt like the authroity figure lets put it that way, becasue he tends to lash at people who tell him what to do. As for a TE role, kid cant block to save a life and his hands really arent that great. He dropped all kinds of passes in the flats the past two years.
Pats, as for the kid starting as a freshman. You might want to know that the kid was a 16 year-old freshman. So you could look at it as if he was a junior TB at the time.

Re: LHAC 2008
Your right I did take a shot, but IMO a deserved shot. You see these big articles in the paper about how all these McCort kids are playing football in college then over half of them end up quiting and so fourth. The reason being they play on a bonified all star team and are usually a bunch of premadona golden boys(USUALLY). They do not know what it is like to barely field a team and have every guy start both ways and work 110% of the time simply to have a 500 record. These kids get by by doing the basic minimium. You place either of these kids in most other programs in the conference and what do they do, not record setting I will tell you that much. You place almost any QB on an all star team such as McCort and put in any solid athlete at reciever and things will happen.

Re: LHAC 2008
Pats, I don't say this very often but I agree with Vman. JD was a very tough and very good highschool football player. He's now going out into the real world and he has to decide what's best for him in the long run and for his future and family. It's not like he's still in the protected world of highschool. Yes the kids played on a very good team but neither transferred into BM during Highschool so what's the problem? It's just like a quarterback playing for a very good Tyrone team or Forest Hills team, and there's been a lot who haven't gone on to play in college.
If I were McCort, I wouldn't want Merriman. Look at the reason for his transfer. Problems with a coach who just arrived there? In my opinion if I'm BM coach I'm thinking we built a program that is competitive yearly, why jeopardize it on a kid who may or may not be good, who plays a position(rb) that we already have a top 5 (lowry) and a top 10 (Wadley) player at? If they think he's gonna play FB or TE they are horribly mistaken. As far as defense goes, he may be a decent linebacker because of his size. However I'd rather have an undersized kid in there who's not gonna "show up" whenever he feels like it but plays hard all the time. Watch some Westmont film, sometimes it's like Merriman isn't even really at the games. My prediction is if he does not play right away he will quit before the end of the season, because I know Salem isn't gonna play the games that went on up on the hilltop.
As far as the Crushers WR's go they will likely struggle this year. Schrey is a top 10 player in the LH when he wants to be, but I don't know how often that is. Domonkos won't see the same success as a #2 receiver because teams won't be worrying about Varga, and to top it all off BM is coming into the season with a qb problem and none of their qbs have varsity experience. If teams shut down the running game, I don't know if BM will have a decision maker or the athletes to get the job done against the FH's, CC's, or even the BC's. On the other hand they will likely get it done against PORTAGE and WINDBER!
