I was wondering same thing. He must mean every private school in the nation. The public school districts don't have big money donors.

No, the just operate under the "old boys club" premise which is very similar to the "money talks" premise. It's politics or whatever you want to call it. It's not right but it's the way of the world. Agree with senior3 100%, thank you for bringing common sense and clarity to what has become quite the soap opera.

Exactly. All this would do is show kids that if you cry and whine and **** enough you'll get what you want. Didn't we try to STOP that behavior when they were toddlers? I bet all these parents belong to the democratic national party

Re: Bishop McCort
Wait you have parents crying and complaining because they have a major stake in the school, THEIR CHILD. You had the couple board members crying and complaining because there friend didn’t get the job.
Who has more right to be upset??? Like I said before, If I was a coach I would never walk into that situation there is no way he is going to get the buy in he needs to be successful and lets be honest BM will struggle again this up coming year not because of coaching but because of age and talent. He is going to take all the blame and will undermine anything he tries to do in the future even if he stays after this year.
If I was Basile I would of stepped back, let someone else fail and they will and then come back to it at a later date. I just don’t feel the guy will get a fair shake because of the situation on how he got the job.

Should we just skip the in-between and go ahead and blame this entire situation on Obama and close the thread?peytonsaturday wrote:Exactly. In my minimal social "tweeting" I saw a post a couple weeks ago that said...."Un-coachable kids become un-employable adults"...........Kudos to the parents who have stepped up on here not to support the decision, but to say this is a chance of a lifetime that will never come back.......Play the game for the fun of the game......Its not always about wins and losses..

That's what I'm trying to say. We don't always get what we want, but you have to make the best of things and work your hardest. The kids who DO play will learn more about life than the kids who "take their ball and go home"

Re: Bishop McCort
I guess I see things somewhat differently. You only have 3 maybe 4 years if you’re talented to participate in sports in high school. 98% of the kids will never play organized sports after their high school career is over. My point is when the time is gone it is gone it is never coming back and no matter how much money or influence you have you can never get that experience back.
So if you want to sit out and not play fine that’s your choice. If you want to leave a school just like you chose to go to that school, then leave. Whatever you think gives your child the best 3 to 4 years he has to participate in sports and go to school then do what you feel is best. The bottom line is there are options and this is America transfer, quit, or stay just do what you feel right is for your child.
At the end of the day BM has the resources and backing to really make splash moves when hiring their coaches. The last couple hires have been mediocre at best. Davitch & Murphy are both good guys from what I hear but were not coaches that are going to push a program forward. They are place holders. Hawkins hire brought excitement and someone who could draw talent to the school because let’s be honest at a Private school that is a major part of being successful as a coach. Does Basile do that? This in my opinion pushes kids away who may have thought about coming to BM.
When is a school going to put the best interest of the school before the best interest of them and their friends?

I have been reading along with this tread since it started and I would have to agree that BM really brought a lot of these headaches on themselves. As far
as the school putting the best interest of the school before the best interest of their friends (Not going to happen) quite honestly, most schools
that I see are ran on the buddy system. It's everywhere, most people are concerned with themselves and their friends and little else

Very true Chief. Even in public schools, I'm willing to bet at least 80% the people hired (in ANY capacity, be it teachers, coaches, janitorial staff, administrative staff etc) have an "in". Whether it's a relative who works there / is on the board, or they themselves went there and their family is "in good standing" etc. It's just the facts of life. It's a real shame, because I'm sure these people can't ALWAYS be the right person for the job (and I'm speaking more on the educational side of things....you know why we ACTUALLY have schools!! Believe it or not, the reasons for schools IS NOT for athletics), but sometimes, yeah they might be the best person for the position. And if they are, then they should get it, but there is NO WAY that these people are ALWAYS the right person for the job. Oh well, but as the saying goes, "it's not what you know; it's who you know"
