Ok, let me get this straight. So you're ok with the elimination of ALL semi-automatic weapons, as long as the uzi and AK-47 are off the streets? And you can't see that the propaganda is to say they are getting those weapons out of the market, while they push their agenda of eliminating the 2nd amendment by including provisions into those laws that encompass so much more than what they are saying to the media? That is where you people need to wake up. I can't wait to see those gang members lining up to turn their weapons in.

Who was that leader around 70 years ago who trumpeted gun control as the way to create a civilized society? I believe it was the same guy that wanted - and got - a national civilian force.

Why on earth is that sad? I'm sure that he had to go through all the proper background checks. Does it make you feel better that a non law-abiding citizen would get one of these guns, and people like ole Southy have no way to defend family and property?

I still am not sure the reason for a normal civilian to have an automatic weapon, other than for pleasure.
I don't feel the makers of the Constitution intended it to be meant for automatic weapons.
I am not name calling or insulting your personal intelligence, just having an opinion.

This will probably sound stupid and make you jump out of your seat, but I am in favor of starting a homeland army(for lack of a better term). Strictly devoted to Gangs/ Drugs and Firearms. I realize we have the ATF and other police forces but I feel that Gangs probably have their run in certain areas.

Just a thought, not claiming to be right about everything.

Bball - I didn't take your post as name calling. Sorry if you thought I was. I am genuinely interested in hearing your opinion on a law that propaganda wise, says it's about eliminating assault weapons. But in reality, the law being proposed is about eliminating ALL semi and automatic weapons, which include normal hunting and recreation weapons that no one with common sense would classify as assault weapon.

Listen, criminals aren't going to stop getting this weapons because Obama says they can't. They're already criminals!!!!!

Please read up on past governments around the world that have created "homeland armies". It may scare you and change your opinion. The Second Amendment Doesn't put limitations on firearms. IMO you should legally be able to own whatever you want if you pass the proper background checks.

The business world's verdict is in on president-elect Obama: Socialism sucks. The DOW has lost almost 14% of its value in the one week following The One's election. Before Nov 4 the market's had been recovering from the previous low of 8200. That low is likely gonna be just a nostalgic memory soon.

didn't see that coming. Wow. You got me there. Didn't realize he had that.

It just goes along with my belief that there are big problems here. Drugs, homelessness, poverty. It is easy to say, go get a job. With our system, it is easier said than done. Katrina is another huge homeland issue that I have a big problem with. Rebuild the tourist sites but leave the poor residents still homeless and displaced.

I think very randomly at times, but am big and try to donate to some of the problems we have here.

I still think there is no reason for a civilian to have a machine gun. Who are we protecting ourselves from??? I am asking about now, not when the constitution was drafted.

Don't forget about Kuwait (Desert Storm). Iraq was able to walk in and take over their country because the Kuwaiti people were not allowed to own guns. We must all be careful to protect our right to bear arms. Believe me, there are some bad actors out there who would take swift advantage of us, otherwise.

Do you get it? Before Desert Storm, I had actually started thinking that maybe we should be more restrictive. When the Iraqis went into Kuwait, I tried to imagine anyone coming into any of our 50 states and trying to take over...changed my mind about restrictions.

Don't have my AK anymore. It was fun to have. But I sold it. Guess my Remington pump will have to do to defend my family until BHO decides that pumps needed to be banned right after semi-autos.
