Nitwits struggle w/ facts....this is like 3/4 yrs running BE is rated ahead of Big 10 by everyone!Dirt Winston wrote:Penn State moved up three places after being idle last week. Word is JoePa is frantically trying to schedule idle for the next three years.
I love how Penn State fans always site attendance for why PSU is so great and Pitt is not. Does Penn State have any wins this year that make you feel good? Does what they actually do on the field, or who they play matter? And how exactly is the Big East any weaker than the Big 11? The Big 11 was awful this year.

Re: Is Pitt playing for the Big East title this weekend???
Miami is in a similar situation as Pitt in terms of off campus stadiums, competing with pro teams and all the city /area has to offer, plus an alum base that isn't as huge as you think. Miami's football program, although somewhat "down" recently, has been a winning program over the past several decades, a program which has as many or more NC's than PSU...YET, they cannot sell out games either...
Answer me this: Do you think UMiami would sell out a BE or even an ACC championship?
I am still waiting for an answer to this post...UMiami...FIVE National Championships 1983-1987-1989-1991-2001 (3 more than the Jokester has had, and he's coached for 50 years), yet they rarely sell out their stadium...
Check this article out with regard to UM's attendance woes...http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... ance_N.htm
EXPLAIN AWAY, NITWIT FANS. How can this be? Miami has won 3 more NC's than PSU and has a consistently winning program, yet their attendance is as bad or worse than Pitt's attendance???? That can't be right, can it?
Penn State's attendance is definitely better than UMiami's...Unfortuntalely for the Nits, their PLAYER ARREST RECORD is also ahead of the Canes!!!!!!

Can someone do some research and find out if Miami has a Kennywood park, Carnegie Science Museum, or a Primanti Brothers. Maybe we can pinpoint an exact reason why these teams have trouble getting people to come to their games.

Wow, what a thread! KirkHerbstreit, your post has me laughing. That was funny stuff.
Comparing Miami to Pittsburgh    Pittsburgh is a football town. It is very much old school America. Miami has more people interested in foreign played soccer than they do football.
It reminds me of Old School. "You going to the game today?"
"I don't know man. I have a lot to do. We are going to the Warhol museum, Primanti Brothers, Kennywood in December, and just doing all this stuff. I don't know if there's time. We got a big day planned."

Re: Is Pitt playing for the Big East title this weekend???
All of the dual NFL/NCAA Div. I Cities have NCAA attendance issues. Not just Pitt....Not just Miami....How about Houston, Seattle/U. of Washington, Minnesota.
Toughest tickets are in the areas AWAY from NFL cities....Alabama, Penn State, Notre Dame, Tennessee.
All I know is Pitt is playing for a BCS berth and Conference Championship on Saturday and PSU is sitting at home, shining the Land Grant Trophy, waiting. If all bowl projections I'm reading are accurate, Iowa will get the 2nd Big 10 nod over the Nittanies.

Re: Is Pitt playing for the Big East title this weekend???
Wait, Iowa doesn't deserve the BCS bid over PSU just because PSU might put 15-20K more in the seats in a BCS Bowl...PSU beat Iowa on the field, right?

Re: Is Pitt playing for the Big East title this weekend???
You completely twist everything PSU fans say. I have yet to meet a PSU fan that has said that they were more deserving than Iowa for the BCS spot. I would not, however, say that Iowa is more deserving than Penn State. They each have 2 losses and are sitting at 10-2. You can say that Iowa beat Penn State but you can also say that Penn State won its games more convincingly and Iowa lost 2 of its last 3 down the stretch.
If head to head was the only criteria used for bowl selection then Pitt should play in no bowl game better than NC State.

Re: Is Pitt playing for the Big East title this weekend???
When are you idiots going to finally grasp this?
If Penn State did not have a strong following, they would not be in BCS consideration right now. WHAT THAT MEANS, LADIES, IS THAT ATTENDANCE DOES MATTER. Right now, ON THE BUBBLE W/ 16 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE BALANCE, Penn State's attendance and fanbase absolutely matters 100%. This is what we are talking about. These figures DO matter. If Penn State was playing in front of 40K a game at home, there would be NO discussion about them in the BCS this year.
Have any of you graduated from at least a community college? Because it sure as hell doesn't seem like you grasp this yet.
