I couldnt agree more with u about the 2 worst kind of umpires! I no exactly what u are talking about, and it is hard to watch a game that has one of those umpires officiating the game.

The thread asked for information on local umpires, and i believe that has been covered in great detail, with many different sides from different people.

I hope i helped anyone interested in becoming an umpire, it is a very good experience and you will love it. Just try to avoid the 2 worst kind of umpires that say_oww mentioned and you will do fine.

The Season is just around the corner. It wont be long, good luck to all the umpires and the local teams!

as always. Thank you!

One of the best local umpires is Danny Olsavsky, he is good behind the plate and he is even better out on the field.

I just prefer a consistent offical. Personally I would prefer to have the same marginal call both ways for the entire length of the game. I think that goes for the strike below the knee, the tic tac foul in basketball, or the pass interference call. Stay consistent so that players, coaches, and spectators know what to expect.

NO matter what call is made some joe smoe is going to be upset and argue because either they dont know the rules/game or think every call should go in their teams favor

Chernisky is the only local umpire that I've seen working Curve games.

Chernisky is a substitute umpire if he does Curve games. He is not, nor ever has been, a professional umpire. He is not on the roster of any Minor League umpire association. I believe he does some HS and small college games.
