Re: johnstown state champs
Hmmmm. Are the Trojans dropping to AA next year? Maybe then they could compete for a state title. But not if a certain school (university) up the street gets a couple of their boiz.
It ain't over until it's over.

A certain school down the street from McCort is trying to recruit some boys away from the Red and Gold.

But I must say Petey open up the eyes for a change. Take a look at the whole picture.
1. A Johnstown team has played in a State Championship game which could be considered recently. So the dynamics of states is not so different IMO.
2. D6 now has moved back to the West in terms of State Playoffs. And for people that don't know, the WPIAL AAA is probably the weakest the district has to offer. Looking at the teams, I could legitimately see Johnstown being the 4th best team in the WPIAL AAA. And this is coming from a guy that constantly has knocked on this team. But they have 5 starters that are comfortable playing together, they play well together, and they are pretty dang athletic, and unlike most Johnstown teams. they can knock down outside shots for once.
3. So going into their next year, they will have 5 guys that started every game this season, and a couple of them will be starting for 3 years. They are going to be experienced. Hate them or not, they are going to be tough to beat next year. Now I know they won't be able to beat a Philly public or catholic team in states, and certainly an Erie team and WPIAL team can knock them off, but they will be going for their third go round.
By no means am I calling a State Championship, and I won't be all that shocked if they lost early, but I won;t dismiss the fact that they can make a run.

First, congrats to the Trojans on their D6 3A title. FH gave them a game for a half. I was wondering why Cobaugh kept the starters in until 1min., 24 sec. left in the game, and up TWENTY-TWO points. Maybe FH could come back. I don't know. It was one of those Crushering decisions. The Trojans killed with the three tonight.
It ain't over until it's over.

Why was Gallaher in the game to the end? Why not take him out? For a FH comeback? Or did they want to try and get him more than the 12 measley points he got?Manfred wrote:First, congrats to the Trojans on their D6 3A title. FH gave them a game for a half. According to you, maybe he wanted more "garbage time " points. It's one thing to keep a guy in til the end, but all 5 with a 23 point lead?
