There is no deception. He knows exactly who will start. He's doing this because the media won't let up on it. It's a classic Belichick move, telling the media as little as possible. You keep questioning me, I'll tell you even less.

"You want to start as a freshman" is probably followed by "work you A$$ off and it could happen."

From what I saw today, Hackenberg has the potential to be a very good qb. 3 weeks on campus, starts, and plays a pretty good game. Made some mistakes, but also made big throws. Got the W. Looking forward to watching him play this year. How about you Moldy?

And Jay isn't around to mess him up. He did look impressive for a true freshman though. Penn State looked slow to me, I think they'll get hammered by the big boys on the schedule. Lucky for them they have a ton of cupcakes.

kirk: Believe it or not, did not see ONE play from the Syracuse game, so I cannot evaluate his play, or the Syracuse defense. Am interested, though, in your "Got the W" comment.

The phrase "Got the W" usually follows a near loss to an inferior opponent. As in "lucky to have gotten outta there with a win" or "deserved to lose'.

I will take a W any day of the week. A team like Syracuse should have no problem playing penn state, right? I mean they do have 20 more scholarship players on their roster and beat Pitt, so surely they should beat Penn State, right?

You PSU guys are going to beat that "65 scholarship limit" like a dead horse all year, aren't you??? Win and it's a great achievement, lose and it's your excuse. Give it up, already. And, when all is said and done, what good will that W get you? A conference title? A major bowl bid? We'll show the world how great we are? Good luck against EMU. Get that win.

You said it best Moldy. Penn State's wins don't matter. Their losses don't matter. That's what makes it so curious as to why you are so worried about how they win and how O'Brien handles his QB situation.

I don't think Pitt has to worry about a W
