The only way Somerset could schedule out of conference games would be if it went independent.
Somerset's main goal should be to actually win its conference.

Yeah, nobody can really schedule how they want unless they are independent. Same thing goes for district 7. You play who is in your league. That's just how high school football is.
I wish they would take away the 10th game altogether, but if they have one at all, force teams to play someone outside their own league. I wasn't a fan of the LHAC making teams play a ten game schedule, and I didn't really like how the WestPac did it either.

Oh so like the WPIAL they don't have scheduling flexibility.....
Why couldn't their main goal to win states?

That's not how HS football is. In EPA there are several nonconference/nondistrict games. Hell, at the start of the season there are several cross-country games. Even in the WPIAL just a few years ago, Clairton played Wash High in a nonconference game. Those games need to return.

Yeah, some schools can go out and play one maybe two games outside their league. They can't go out and schedule whoever they want. You are tied to the league you played in.

That's what I'm hinting at. The one or two games they can go outside of their league (assuming Somerset is able to), why not aim for a game against a State College, Wilson, MCD. Of course those schools would have to agree to a H/H. Even a blowout loss would help prepare them for a state run.

um, yeah...I covered it. and I stand by my statement. BG is real good...but to put them in a AAA league, no. I don't understand why people need to do this. They are a single A school that is having A great year. People do this with clairton, southern columbia, quippa....just leave it as it is. They are an A school.

The league Somerset is in went to all 10 games in conference this year. So to answer about them specifically, no they don't have the option of playing any games out of their league.

So just because the are A there is no way they are better than Somerset? That shouldn't matter at all when comparing two teams who play the same schedule. Nobody said BG would be a state powerhouse in AAA. Just saying they are better than one AAA team.

Yeah I'm with you lhacbigfan, we aren't comparing Clairton and Central Valley in a hypothetical A vs. AAA matchup, this one actually happened and the A team won by 24 points. They played the same schedule all year long, and BG posted more points and surrendered fewer than Somerset did.
Could Somerset beat BG? Absolutely. If the two teams played next week, it would be a great game. But saying if the teams played 100 times and Somerset would win 80/100 probably isn't likely.
