Re: Ridge wins the County Cup
Probaly the greatest football game ever played at the Fishertown Stadium was a few years ago when CR beat the Rangers. Things were going in the right direction for the program under Ron Walters when all of a sudden a group of dissatisfied parents et al decided to go on a mission to oust him.

first off...its dr. giovachanni or whoever stadium, not fishertown stadium and secondly...one game? u beat forest hills ONE time..wooooooow that proves alot. wasnt it ridge that left the LHAC with their tail between their legs becuase they were bein takin to the wood shed all the time, and not just in football, but every sport. but hey as long as ur able to beat up on the lil guys in the ICC and SHL then i guess u deserve the county trophy, personally ill keep my district and LHAC titles for myself.

Gunner, you are reading a whole lot more into my post than what I said. Back up a step, get off your mouthy horse and reread it. I was talking about 1 game and what it meant. I would expect a little deeper thinking from you than that.
It was 1 game against a quality program that represented the peaking out of a lot of effort to bring improvement to a needy program on behalf of Ron Walters.

That FH game represents a "Climax" in the CR Football Program that has yet to be duplicated.
This could be the year for them to do that providing they not only win the ICC but advance deep into the State Playoffs.

Re: Ridge wins the County Cup
To clear up a few things about the Co. Cup. There are no "Free Points" or "Byes"...# of points accumulated is divided by # of sports each school has to acquire the cumulative average used in the standings. Thus Bedford's point total would be divided by a larger number than Hyndman's. Secondly it works the opposite from what you would think. Let me ask you this...Is it easier to win league/district championships and accumulate points in sports like Cross Country, Tennis, and Golf where there are very few teams to compete against (less than 8 in D5 in each) or in sports like Baseball, Basketball, and Wrestling where there are 15+ teams in each sport to compete against for THE SAME PT. VALUE?
That is actually why Bedford won it the first year. Their Tennis, Golf, and CC points allowed them to eke out the cup over N.Bedford who scored all their points in Football, Boys Bask., Wrestling, Baseball, and Softball. Ridge was a legitimate and healthy winner over the next closest challenger (Everett I believe) this year.

i do like the idea of dividing points earned by sports available as that gives a more accurate view of the points. my only complaint is that a school can get more points by finishing 2nd in the sideling hill than a 3rd place finish from bedford in the LHAC. i dont c how anyone can sit there and honestly say that it is fair that bedford recieves less points for finishing 3rd in a tougher conferance than the other schools do for finishing 2nd in the weakest conferance around. its almost as if bedford is being punished becuase they choose to play better teams. the only way i c it is to schedule a post season "scrimmage" if u will between bedford and the top school from the other schools for every sport becuase 9 times out of 10 every county school will play all the other county schools in every sport except bedford. example....in football, say ridge has an 8-1 season (just an example...) and bedford is 7-2. ridge beat evert, nbc, and tussey so that means they have the best team of those 4 schools. after the season is over, have a game between bedford and ridge and give the points to the winner. 1 game added to the season will not hurt anyone, if anything it would b nice to give the seniors one last chance to play. heck u could have "county cup saturday" or somethin with all the games on one day starting in the morning and ending w/ a football game under the lights.

....and we could have all the athletes from Bedford line up and every athlete in the rest of the county could bow before them and honor them with a kiss on the foot and anything else they deserve.....
