Re: Bush/Lincoln
Why don't we just annex off the whole "megaopolis" on the east coast and New England to form their own country!
Its sad to see Pennsylvanians buying the garbage that Kerry and the Democrats are selling. Not enough people get Fox News.

"I'm your huckleberry"
*LP -- every farmer knows that the place for young boys is up in the mow sucking dust, unless you own the farm. Then you stand up there and boss them. (Sort of like life.) Since I was neither, I stayed on the wagon unless I had to go up there, which was still way too much.
*That might have been the summer my blood pressure set a new record at the emergency room at the hospital -- or when I had my first stents. Or when the herniated disks laid me low. Sort of forget.
*Wasn't criticizing YOUR haymaking abilities, though. In fact, as I remember, you were the best of the bunch.
*Moral arbiter might be too strong -- barely. But sometimes the lectures come fast and furious. Perhaps you should have been a teacher or a preacher.
*Of course I don't support partial birth abortions. I just gave you multiple examples of family members alive who might not have been had that route been taken. But I'm not going to assign those who do a ticket to hell.
*Cocksure? We all have our beliefs and express them. I just see very little latitude in your positions. As I've said before, I admit Kerry is a flawed candidate.
*Maybe you guys can start a militia and begin the secession process in earnest.
*This all got personal because of my oblique reference to abortion, which you jumped on. I knew this would happen. All I had to do was shut down the computer and go kick the dog or something. But I didn't.

Foggy you and I both know I can stack hay faster than you and LP put together!
I like the militia idea. The Bedford County Minutemen! Drill twice a month after church on Sundays!

I take the abortion very seriously. When you believe, like I do, that abortion is murder, how can you not?
Why do I have to show latitude in my positions? I strongly believe in them. What kind of man would I be if I backed away from my positions? President Bush happens to share those positions, which is why I support him so strongly.
Now Southpaw, you wouldn't even want to compete against me stacking hay. I don't do as much as I used to, but I can still hear the old goat (foggy and southpaw should know who i mean) saying - "Stack it like concrete, you don't want an old man up there breaking his leg in a hole you make". I took him seriously. I can still remember coming out of those barns after a 2,000 bale day with blood all over my shirt from nosebleeds from the dust. BTW - that would've been the summer of 1988.

Is that a putdown of your brother's stacking abilities?
I admit I was a wimp. Besides, any physical activity that doesn't involve a ball, a bat, a club, or a racket is unnnatural.

Re: Bush/Lincoln
My great-grandfather was the one who at an early age "educated" me on how to stack hay! Cut edge up nice and tight. Then salt every layer to cure the hay. That old salt would really bite into those sore cracked hands.
Foggy- you know my brother was always in the wagon with you! He was a bigger wimp than you were.

Re: Bush/Lincoln
I thought better of staying out of the abortion issue, but ....
Abortion is seen as a black/white issue when indeed it's a gray issue. In general, I'm opposed to abortion. However, there are cases where I see it as ok. I had a friend, who is a good Christian woman, whose child was determined to be very deformed during her 7th month of pregnancy. One choice was go full term, give birth to a very deformed child who would have no chance in life and completely drain the families resources and time. The other was to abort the child and give it a Christian burial. Certainly not an easy decision for someone who considers themselves pro-life. Would overturning Roe v. Wade allow for these gray circumstances? There are many more situations similar to this. Not every abortion is committed by a woman trying to elude her responsibility.

Great point once a runner. But of course, they'll still argue that it was the wrong thing to do. They have to thick of skulls to actually take time and think about a situation like that. They can't just seem to consider other people's point of views.

Now your a mind reader? All you do is criticize and offer up nothing of your own. At least runner tries to back up what she posts instead of just blasting everyone that disagrees with you.

Re: Bush/Lincoln
By the way how did this get from Lincoln/Bush to abortion?
Just read today that Lincoln himself in 1864 made the pachyderm (elephant) the mascot for the republican party. Don't know about the donkey for the Democrats.
