Re: North Star @ Northern Bedford
I can't even believe this is a playoff game. District 5 is an absolute joke when it comes to single A football. The only team that is of quality this season is Berlin and they are an up and down team from year to year. The only quality football program in district 5 is Windber. It is an absolute shame quality teams in District 6 don't make the playoffs with a 6-3 record yet Northern Bedford gets a first round bye with a 6-3 record in district 5. If you are any type of football fan, skip the junior varsity, I mean district 5 semifinals and go watch quality district 6 football. North Star vs. Northern Bedford, sounds like a barn burner.
Re: North Star @ Northern Bedford
If it were Windber @ NBC, you wouldn't have this problem. Windber got upset, so the appeal is not as much for people who aren't fans of NS or NB.
NB played Ridge, Juniata Valley, and CK all as tough as can be. They SHOULD HAVE probably won the CK game, but just couldn't stop a fourth down play that would have won the game. Ridge and JV also turned into winnable games for NB.
Sorry you don't like it...I, for one, am PUMPED!

Dragonfanz,
Why so upset? With district 5 having their own playoff system, you now get more single A teams in the playoffs. It used to be that the District 6 playoffs consisted of only four teams, and there was a lot of complaining about that, especially down CK way where they always seemed to have very good teams, but just couldn't get into the playoffs. Then it moved to six with the playoff system of 5/6 A, and know has moved up to 8. So I think at this time, it is the best that it has ever been for District 6A teams.
Boiler Up!
Boiler OUT!

Re: North Star @ Northern Bedford
I may not be a football genious but please compare:
D6 D5
#1 Blairsville Berlin
#2 Bellwood Northern Bedford
#3 Juniata Valley Windber
#4 United Conemaugh Twp.
#5 Bishop Carroll Rockwood
#6 Mo Valley North Star
#7 Laurel Valley
#8 Portage
Now my comments about D5 football is comparible to junior varsity may have been uncalled for but please compare both lists. As much as I hate neighboring Claysburg, they missed out on the D6 playoffs at 7-2. In district 5, that would have earned them a first round bye. D5 can not compare to D6 when it comes to A and AA football.
