Did you ever see those commercials for those levels that shoot a laser beam out so you can hang pictures better? Maybe we need something like that on the sidelines for important games. By the way, what kind of card was it? I know for a fact that Bi-lo cards are thicker than Driver's licenses.

here is the correct story on the tyrone GC first down call. The GC kid was tackled and his knees hit the ground.. he then stretched uout his arms as far as he could. The ref spotted the ball about 1 yard farther than what he should have.. which was then close enough for a measurement. When the chains were stretched out the ball was about 1 1/2 inches from the post.. clearly an easy call for everyone to see.. The GC players dropped to their knees and let out a groan. knowing that they had been stopped.. then tyrone d jumped for joy after both teams saw the measurement... after the ref signaled first down for tyrone. the gc coach began squealing.. the head ref then darted out on the field yelling "wait a minute" he had a piece of paper in his hand.. which i think was actually taken from the GC coach... he slid the paper in between the post and the ball.. angling it so that one part touched the ball and one part touched the post... yes the paper touched both.. but the paper was slanted to accound for the 1 1/2 inch space in between.... the paper was never needed... the first down was not a papers width nor even close.. it was more like a harry potter book width.. On channel 10 news there was also a closeup of the measurement in which it was easy to see the ball was not remarkabky close to the post.. this ref was later seen hugging the GC kids..a ref who out right cheated for a team and was too much of a coward to make the right decision.. this man should be punished for this.. this is not a call od descretion like a pass interference call or a holding call.. this was a call made as he stared at the ball knowing for 100% it was without a doubt a first down.. just as both teams knew it... and he gave the first down to GC... this is completely wrong.. and after all..there was 1 1/2 inches of space in there.. but what if it was a papers width... if there is any amount of space at all between the post and the ball whether it be a papers width or an eyelash... then.. it is not a first down.. the BALL must TOUCH THEPOST.. which means no space... a ridiculous call absolutely obsurd

What a terrible way to lose the game!! Refs should never be the outcome of the game but here it looks like they were!!

If that story was true, then is there any legal action in planning?

that did stike me as a little odd that the officiating crew was from D-7 after tyrone knocked out their hopes for the championship

Great Game.
It was very sad to see it end with the worst referees decision that I have ever witnessed. I woud like to see the replay on tape. It will clearly show that the kid was down way short of the 1st down.
