Lantzy Game
Re: Lantzy Game
Actually it was 4 th down on the three yard line and they ran a quick pitch to D'carrion who was tackled ny the Kline boy from BC. It was a very good game. Larod got some yards but he was being hit when he touched the ball and was being hit big time. It was thought that the SOuth had to much speed and talent and it shows what a great team efffort the North put together. South def had the better athletes abd plain more speed but the North kids pulled together and won. A great game again.

The CR players were Brain, Casey, and Dan. I'm not sure how they did though.

Re: Lantzy Game
The South did not need another week of practice. They had 4 opportunities to win the game. 1) In the first half, Lewis dropped a sure TD pass in the open field. 2) When he did catch one in the 2nd half, it was called back for holding. 3) Harris was wide open and did not catch a sure TD pass in the 2nd half. and 4) Lewis missed a WIDE OPEN receiver with the halfback option pass in the 2nd half. Success with any one of these plays could have won the game.... The North tried to lose the game too. TWICE, after successfully running down the field, the tried passes on first down which were incomplete. This led to 2nd and 10 situations which they could not convert. The one that really hurt was at the end of the first half. After running down the field with ease, they had a first and 10 at the 14. Younger tried a roll out pass (to the wrong side) which was incomplete. Two running plays got them to 4th and two, which they did not convert. The South then took it down the field and scored 8 points before the half ended.
Re: Lantzy Game
El-Moldo, What you said about passing when running would have been better may hold true in a regular FB game. However, in the Lantzy game each team must throw 5 passes a quarter. I asked one of the North coaches about this after the game. On the drive you question, they were told by the sideline game official that they still had 1 pass to throw. They had to throw or face a penalty. By the way, a "roll out pass to the wrong side" is called a bootleg.

I was on the 50 on the North side. North fans all around, except for these two clowns, obvious Trojan homeys. If I heard it once, I heard it 15 times, every time LaRod came in the game, "He's lightning in a bottle", he's gonna break it long now". Well, he had an all-star line, though not as good as the North's, and he did make a couple nifty runs, but if you keep running that toss-sweep 15 or 20 times, you're bound to break a couple sooner or later. My choice for best South RB goes to Cadillac D'Carrion. Ozbold? All he did is throw it up for a 6'5 guy to run under. The North had no D for that play. Oh, after the South was stuffed on that last drive, the two fastest Trojans were the two behind me, making tracks for the exit. That pass interference call along the South sideline should not have been called. The ball was well-overthrown and beyond the receiver when the defender 'grabbed' him. All in all, a pretty good game. Strope ran really well, behind the North's big hosses. Kudo's to all who played. It was much better than last year's game.
I had a little bit of Physics way back in the day......If you have "lightning in a bottle", isn't that a BAD thing? I mean it's like UNUSED potential. Doing nothing. It would be better if it was being applied somehow. Like better utilization by the South's coaching staff. Guess they liked Cadillac better, too, but then again, Cadillac's coach was the South Head coach.

I agree. D'Carrion had the best game of the South backs. I also agree that it was possible to use Stevens, Harris, and Lewis a little better. What play was Strope running? It seemed to be the same play to the right and then to the left, over and over. The South never stopped it. I saw in the paper that the North had almost 300 yards rushing.
