Paterno's idea for a conference is as follows.

He wanted the conference to "share" basketball revenues because PSU's basketball program stunk back then and still stinks today.

He wanted each school to keep its football revenue because of the strength of his program.

As usual, JoePa wanted it his way. He wanted the best scenario for Penn State without regard to the other schools. He wanted everyone to carry his lackluster basketball program while he did not want to carry anyone else's football program.

So what you are saying is that Pitt has always been overrated in basketball? Because your post hints that Pitt's bball team was really good.

I never once mentioned or hinted about Pitt in that post. That post was strictly about JoePa's plan for the Eastern Conference.

No, you DID hint at Pitt being good. Because you said that Penn State's team was terrible and that they were not worthy of being able to share that basketball revenue with what you led people to believe was an all-star cast of Big East basketball programs, namely Pittsburgh, who you know is the one who was against the Paterno Plan.

I've read HH post several times. Where does he mention or even hint about Pitt? I really can't find it.

As has been stated numerous times, Pitt was the school that was against the Paterno Plan. With that being said, H&H hinted in that last sentence that Big East basketball teams were really good. So if Pitt is the one that we know is against it, that leads me to believe that Pitt's basketball team was very good, which is thoroughly dispute. Like I said before, I understand why people would not want to do the plan, but we have to take into consideration whether or not NCAA football was that much wealthier than NCAA basketball. Surely Beaver Stadium makes more money in 6 games than Pitt's basketball arena makes in 15.

I'm not sure. All I know is that in home attendance in game vs. game situations where basketball is up against football, in 9 out of 10 places you will see that football crushes basketball. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to let those teams keep their football revenue for themselves.
