Westy? State semis or championship??? I think Aliquippa and Mr. Baldwin/Mr. Pope will have something to say about that.

The PIAA AA championship road from the west runs directly through the WPIAL and until Westmont proves that they can beat a quality WPIAL opponent, much less in March, then I'd say 6-AA championship and anything else after that is gravy...and I like Westmont and would like nothing more than to see them beat the thugzzz from Quippa. However, there is just way too much talent there in QuipLand...and in Jeannette too for that matter.

Barring academic troubles, Joe Balog will be the best player in the conference this year. Watson, DeMarco, Trotz, Khuri, Young, and Stephenson are all tough. They have some big bodies to replace in Max Khuri and Mark Rossi, but Trotz shined in my and every other Westmont fan's eyes during the playoffs especially last season. Nick Khuri is a big kid that may not be as physical as his brother was, but he is a solid player. Hopes are high for this season, no matter how far away it is.

Richland will not compete with Westmont, CC, Johnstown, or Mccort. I watched a summer league game and Westmont won by over 40. Westmont will be the team to beat. No questions asked.

I'm not saying richlands gonna be amazing or anything... a summer league game is a summer league game, half the kids cant make summer league games because of baseball and such. I have to agree with you username Johnstown should be tough.

Just listening about how Westmont has a lack of size, my question is how are they gonna stop CC? 6'8" and 6'6" at the 4 and 5 positions would definitely pose a problem for any team whose biggest guy is 6'3". Add in Gowen, a 6'5" slasher who finishes well, and matchup nightmares seem to be a plenty. And if u wanna double down on the posts, Miller and McGregor will rain treys all day. I'd like to see how Westmont, Richland, McCort, and even Johnstown are gonna stop that.

I totally agree with primetime on this one. CC will be very hard to stop the only weakness may be that their big guys are not very strong inside. But look out for CC this year and next year because all of these guys that were mentioned will only be juniors this year.

Central Cambria has never won a district title. Even McCort football has one.

Since when does a school's previous district title history play a part in how good they'll be in the coming year. Yes, CC has not won a district title. But then again, CC has never had a team as loaded with good, young talent as this one.

Size doesn't mean anything when you suck, which is the case for the two central cambria boys and weatherly. Young is nothing without X or kurt hoffman or rose, how is he going to carry his team without support. Westmont doesnt have a lot of depth but they have 7 guys that are better than any other 7 guys from any team in the lhac. Westmont no doubt wins lhac and d6.
