Backing out of a verbal commitment this far from signing day gives Pitt plenty of time to keep recruiting and as you said maybe get a verbal from some other TE and pull the offer from the table. I do feel that they would still take hm any way they can get him. The whole recruiting scene is a shady one, (remember Morelli A. Johnson) teams will recruit even harder after a verbal commitment has been given. And in looking at the Joe McKnight situation this year it appears verbal commitments are basically meaningless just give the KID a break and let him pick the school that is right for him. Maybe he is a victim and was rushed who knows.

Hey vman, sorry about the name calling "joke". It just gets so annoying that everything is turned into everyone hates McCort. Maybe it's not hate. Maybe it is just jealousy................
Back to Cruz. He's young and has one more year. As adults, we have difficulties making decisions. he will find a school that fits his niche (and his Mother's) and he'll be a big play maker wherever he decides to go.

Sure there are other kids to take athletic scholarships. BUT you offer the one's YOU WANT, first. Then you go for others if you can't get those first choices. Academic scholarship candidates are not hard to find. Getting that special football player is. Now, what's wrong with that question about your daughters? Would you like it if they were engaged, their fiancee renieged, then wanted to be taken back. Why won't you answer? It's just a hypothetical question, right? Isn't that what Cruz might do to Pitt?

What's with the hate and jealosy stuff? I started this topic. Thought it was newsworthy. Everything I wrote (except for that VT crack) was straight from Pantherlair.com., including his comments about his mother's concern about the big city. Then I never said another thing until I said Pitt should not take him back. Never once questioned his ability as a player. What's that have to do with jealosy? Where's the hate in what I said? As a Pitt fan, he's had his chance and shouldn't be offered again. Again, what's this have to do with hate and jealosy? Of course now that vman has chimed in, the kids being drug around on here a little. vman should have stayed out of it. All he did was re-awaken a sleeping topic.

I think I get it now....re. sports, you offer the one's u want first but for academic scholies, you start at the bottom of the barrel & work your way up the deserving ladder....BRILLIANT! and it gets better >

Do us a favor tomorrow and call Donbo or whomever @ FH and ask them how many kids are getting full academic scholarships to major universities next yr..... Not hard to find??????
And lastly, I refuse to compare a broken engagement to backing off a verbal to play fb!
And BTW, the word is renege.....as always, no charge w/ your BC tutorials....and to borrow a recent scream > WOTKOWSKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A) Cruz gives his committment to play at Pitt, B) he backs out of his committment to play the field, C) he wants to come back to Pitt again....Now A) A young man makes a committment to your daughter by asking her to marry him and gets engaged, B) he backs out of his committment to play the field, C) he wants to come back to your daughter again. YOU CAN'T SEE THE COMPARISON??????? WOW!!!! And you give people advice about their lives????????.....By the way, I personally know more kids on academic full rides than athletic full rides. There are only about 120 colleges that have division I football. There are hundreds of colleges that don't. Most or all colleges give academic full rides to students. So obviously there are MORE academic full rides out there than division I football full rides.
He told Pantherlair that (and get this) his mother had concerns about Pitt being located in the city". Here's a kid, 6'4" 255 lbs and his mom is concerned???? Maybe he should try a school like Virginia Tech. It's way out in the country. All I can say is....a bird in the hand.....
Uhhhh, this is a direct quote from Pantherlair??????.............(get this) we'll belittle a 16 year old's mother 'cause she is concerned for his well-being???? Then we gotta throw VT in there.....good touch....or was that also in the Pantherlair article!
