Re: Top players in the LHAC
Eric Lowry out of Bishop McCort is the best player in the LHAC
He will be the top returning in All purpose yardage and TD's also he is a very skilled DB that can rack up the interceptions
No disrespect to anyone else but Lowry is the clear cut Best
Closer to the season ill compile a more informed list but for now Lowry is #1 and # 2-20 are all up in the air

Re: Top players in the LHAC
Although Lowry was one of the best players in the LHAC last year, and will likely be again this year, I don't think he deserves "clear cut best" as he was surrounded by great talent and played more games than anyone else in the LHAC, obviouslly he should have better stats. With that being said, I have no problem with Lowry as the #1 player, but "clear cut best" makes him seem head and shoulders above the competition.

Re: Top players in the LHAC
CrimsonCrazy I was being a bit sarcastic with the post earlier but I disagree with you on the whole "clear cut best" player and it's definately not Lowry until he proves himself. With DeFrance leaving and a few other key players for McCort's passing game it won't be as easy for him to rack up the yards and tds this year. To have a solid rushing attack you have to have some what of a passing attack unless you are Matt Holsberger but there are no Holsberger's in the LHAC anymore. Just look at what happened to Scott MeHall this year, he was one of the best rushers as a sophmore last year but when Rearick left his stats dropped and he wasn't nearly as good as he was with Rearick. That was because so many of the teams playing FH's focused so much on the passing of Rearick instead of Mehall, which is exactly what teams did this year with McCort. Most teams wanted to stop DeFrances in the air and they were so sure of it that they would work less on stopping the run during practices and focus on the pass game. Don't get me wrong, Lowry is one hell of an athlete and a good running back but it will be more difficult for him in a scenario where a quarterback comes in that won't even be close to what DeFrance was. So you tell me if he is "clear cut best" at the end of the season.

Re: Top players in the LHAC
you just told me why he isnt going to be the best.....You cant make a case for anyone else?
Ok by default Lowry is still the clear cut best due to lack of nobody else
You might say DeFrances and Varga took the load of him he still led the teams in yards,Td's, and attempts he is a workhorse and has good speed and strngth Soo in a sense he may have opened it up jor JD and MV? depends on your point of view
Name me a few players that can be considered near the top with him and maybe ill begin to agree with you....im not being unfair but im willing to listen?
and with Mehall....Glessner(not saying his is Rearick)but put up some big numbers too soo Why did Mehall's production go down? i think there was enough protection and respect from that passing game too open it up for him

Re: Top players in the LHAC
In reply to Crimson Crazy's post, I'll agree that Lowry is one of the better players in the LH but to say that Forest Hills had
ample protection for it's QB or had lanes to run thru for it's running backs is beyond belief. This had to be one of the weakest
FH teams in school history.Glessner started off the year like a house on fire but by the middle of the season started having
problems finding receivers open or running for his life. Don better get back to his "old school" ways and get the boys in the
weight room and get the pride back.A very weak and inexperienced line led to alot of the problems this past year.People kind of took it for granted when Rearick had that enormous line in front of him.Concerning Mehall,(if he was #3 ) I could never figure out what position they wanted him to play. One game early in the year when i was up here he was starting at TB
and shifting to a slot receiver. Then when I came back at the end of the season he started the game against BC at TB and the
next series was a slot receiver.Later on they him at wide out and sometimes at fullback.Someone did tell me that the last
game he even had to play QB because the other QB's were down. So, Crazy, there wasn't any comparision in the least of FH's
offense compared to McCort's. Forest Hills for 2008 has alot of work ahead but, hopefully,a couple of next year's seniors can
lead the team in the right direction unlike this past season.

Re: Top players in the LHAC
Lets look at it this way...
Who's going to be the best team next year?
Bishop McCort
Who's going to be the one carrying the team?
Eric Lowry
Sounds like a strong enough case to me.
Name one other Junior who racked up the numbers Lowry did and list them....wait ill save you the time...NO ONE DID!

Re: Top players in the LHAC
Lowry will not have the problem Mehall had, the McCort line will once again be strong, and McCort will surround him with athletes. Of course lowry's stats were the best around, he was the only running back who got the ball on the best team in the area, played more games than anyone else, and was surrounded by more talent than anyone else. Once again not arguing Lowry ISN'T the best player in the area, Because he might be and is definently the favorite. I'm arguing he isn't far and away the best player.
DWG, I disagree with your post.
It's March, and BM loses a lot from last season.
But your bias is humorous

Re: Top players in the LHAC
How about a Junior and a Sophomore? Using league games only (from MAXPREPS) their stats are as follows:Name one other Junior who racked up the numbers Lowry did and list them....wait ill save you the time...NO ONE DID!
Junior: Preister CH rushing attempts=196 rushing yards=1163 yds/carry=5.93
Soph: Julock BC rushing attempts=163 rushing yards= 842 yds/carry=5.17
Junior: Lowry BM rushing attempts=146 rushing yards= 806 yds/carry=5.52
and don't forget:
Junior: Dykstra Som rushing attempts= 63 rushing yards= 609 yds/carry=9.67
I would consider Dykstra due to his huge yds/carry number, but with the loss of 9 offensive starters, he may be hard pressed to repeat those numbers.
Based on the numbers, I would say that Preister is the best running back coming back.

Agreed with a couple of addendums:Jolly Green wrote:Based on the numbers, I would say that Preister is the best running back coming back.

> On the other hand, the other 750 yards came while running behind one of the worst offensive lines in the history of high school football. Priester is a tough, gutsy inside runner with enough juice to get outside, as well.
