Why did A.Q. Shipley not get drafted until the 7th round, yet he won the Rimington Award this year? Simply because of his height. He was drafted by the Steelers. Watch and see if he doesn't end up playing significantly for them in the next few years. Everything in the NFL has to do with numbers, being 40 time, arm length, verticle jump, and the WONDERLIC test. Shipley was one hell of a college center. He can play the game. NFL teams passed him up because of his lack of height and length. It's a different game. It's a different system. You can't correlate the two.

TAE - yesterday paterno referred to Okali as OBAMA.....it wasn't Josh Hull. I think that was last year.

Is Okali a walk on?

What does height have to do with playing center?

So by your basic logic here, what you are saying is that a team could go 0-12 but be better than a 10-2 team if they get more draft picks. Ahhhhh Haaaaa, That is how Pitt has 73 National Titles.

I hadn't heard that he called him Obama yesterday. Maybe Joe just sees Okoli as a future President bc he's so smart and stately.

What does size have to do with playing in the NFL? Are you serious? The knock on Shipley was that his height affected his reach. They all feared he was too short and not long enough to play in then NFL. I guess only A.Q. has the opportunity to prove the naysayers wrong.

But what does HEIGHT have to do with playing center? That was my question. And as far as height affecting one's reach, that usually is demonstrated by PSU football players when the cops tell them to "stick your hands up" or "reach for the stars".

You're serious? Aren't you? Can you honestly tell me that you can't see the correlation between height and what NFL scouts see as potential for a player? Or how it could hurt his ability to play. Have you ever seen a guy who was 6' and had an 8' wingspan? You make arguments for no reason. You make no sense.

What does speed have to do with anything? Oh that's right. Run faster.

I know at the wide receiver position it makes a huge difference. Quan Cosby was not drafted and was more talented than probably half of the receivers drafted ahead of him. Of course, he's 5"9' on a good day and 26 years old, but there's no questioning his talent. I think FormerWildcat would agree with that. It was just 3 months ago that Quan tore up a first round pick in Malcolm Jenkins. The NFL Draft is a crapshoot. There's a reason why A.Q. Shipley won the Nagurski Award. He must not have had the measurables, but neither did Wes Welker. I think he's doing just fine for himself for an undersized player in the NFL.
