Trade Big Ben?
Re: Trade Big Ben?
They got a good deal in getting Leftwich for a 7th round pick. I'd say you'll be looking at him for the first 4 games.

Leftwich's style is most similar to Roethlisberger's. I think they are going to go with him also.

Re: Trade Big Ben?
Crimson your draft is a little whack. The IUP cornerback is good, but not 3rd round good. If hes there in the fourth take him. what he did at IUP was house punts and kickoffs, watch his play against the CALU wideouts, soft to say the least. These are not amazing wideouts by the way, good yes, but not compared to what he will see. If they pick a kid who is primarily a kick returner, they are crazy. A good pick if your gonna look at the dII ranks is the kid from Hillsdale, he played in the best conference and has been a top 10 olineman for 4 years now. If you add another slot, possession receiver, again crazy, there are other places that need addressed first so shipley is not a smart choice in my eyes at least. A wise pick would be a replacement for james farrior who has at most 2 more good years left. I like the linebacker out of Florida, Branden Spikes, minus his eye poking thing he could be a ball player. I would have no problem with Mays, but doesnt make sense when we just resigned Clark, unless they are worried about Troys health which is and should be an honest concern.
Also heard a number of rumors on ESPN today about the Steelers shopping ben. I don't know of any team minus Oakland or maybe Cleveland who would be interested, but they will also pick up his price tag. If we could trade him and pick up another 1st round and maybe a 2 or three next year could be an interesting proposal.

The Rams turned the Steelers down, but the Raiders and Steelers are talking, according to NFL.com.

It is situations like this that I am glad I dont have cable, bc I am sure the coverage on ESPN is as lengthy as it is irrelevant as it is idiotic.
There is no reason why the NFL is not punished for suspending players based on hearsay and suspicion. I do not like Roethlisberger, I have heard NOTHING but bad things about him from fans, but suspicion doesn't make him guilty. If those charges were dropped, that does not mean they weren't true. But it DOES mean that the law says he is innocent. What kind of system is the National Football League using, where we can punish a player for almost half a season based on OUR OWN suspicion, after the law says he's innocent? This, my BC friends, is exactly why the NFL has no value other than fantasy sports, where it is fun to go into battle against your friends every week and talk trash on them. The NFL is a complete joke. You cannot punish someone based on what YOU think they might have done. That's not how the law here works, guys. And that's not to say he's not guilty as all get out, because he probably is. But how is it the NFL's right to discipline him based on this crap? If you are out drinking at a bar and get rowdy, but dont get arrested, is it your boss's right to discipline you for something that A:) Was hearsay, and B:) Didn't happen at work?
You NFL fans all need to take a long look at what you are endorsing.

Re: Trade Big Ben?
Where I work if you go out to a bar, give alcohol to underage girls, have sex or rape a girl, and are already being sued by someone else for a similar incident I'll guarantee your butt will be in a sling.
If your employer puts a code of conduct in front of you and you sign up to take their money then they can also tell you how you should act. If you want to go out and act like an idiot, decline the money and start your own business.
I haven't watched or read, but I certainly haven't heard his teammates yelling from the rooftops to keep him. However, I don't know that there is another QB in this draft that can match him on the field.
Anyone else here the rumor that Southpaw was getting back in playing shape as soon as track is over???

Re: Trade Big Ben?
Bedrock, if you and I are at a bar and I start telling people the next day that you tried to "rape me", does that make it true?
What girls did he rape? The charges were dropped. Does that mean it didnt happen, obviously not. But the judicial system says it didn't. Now, why is the NFL law held higher than the United States law?

I agree what he did may not have been illegal, but it certainly would land you exactly where it landed him. There are numerous professions where you just shouldn't put yourself in those situations. Again I agree with you it may not be illegal.
Moving on, is there a QB in this draft anyone think could do the things Ben does on the field?

Re: Trade Big Ben?
I agree we should move on, but let me ask you this, b/c I am curious what others think of this double standard.
The NFL has classes for rookies where they tell them things like, "You have to be way more careful than 'normal' people, b/c ppl want to take advantage of you." Okay, you say that, then you bring the gavel down harder on them if it DOES happen!!!!! Shouldn't it be the other way around?
As for QBs, no. They'd have to trade or trade up for Bradford, and he's pretty much the only thing out there right now. This QB class is beyond bad.
