Re: Selection Sunday....
Looks like Hester will play in the state playoffs...Apparently, he has clearance after suffering a concussion...His presence makes WM a legit contender in the AAA West bracket. WM and Perry are my sleepers in AAA.

If you can back it up I suppose you can talk all you want.Crimson09Crazy wrote:here ya go Trojan fans......
West Mifflin coach indirectly calling you out....
“I think just looking at the field we can play with anybody in it,” the West Mifflin coach said Sunday. “I surely wouldn’t want to be a No. 1 seed from another district and get us.”

That's true. I'd like to see Johnstown pull it off somehow

I really hope West Mifflin loses now... I just looked at their Maxpreps site and they have nothing on there. No roster/stats. One of my biggest pet peeves. I mean come on already, its 2011. Don't you want to promote your kids/team in one of the most popular high school sports forums?
Re: Selection Sunday....
Hester must have gotten a "lovetap". Sid Crosby has missed what, 10 weeks now? For what was described as a "mild" concussion. I think maybe these kids think they're indestructible and are given medical clearance waaaaay too soon. All in the name of ego.
It ain't over until it's over.

I think Sid's injury is a little more severe.
A number of teams over this way don't do Maxpreps stats either.

Re: Selection Sunday....
Maybe it used to "supposed to be more for district champs," but now it is not. In every first round match-up, one of the teams is designated as being the "higher seed" based on number of teams in the district and finishing place in the district (they just don't state the seed). I like the ideas you and Crimson are posing about what to do in games with non-district title winners but that is not how they do it now.costanza wrote:i know about the lack of equity in the first round, but that is supposed to be more for district champs than two teams of the same "seed" (district runner up). on another note, maxpreps is not always accurate--clairton didn't lose to williamsburg, it was wilkinsburg they lost to earlier in the season. not too many years where williamsburg will beat clairton. j

Re: Selection Sunday....
Fact: The only way the WPIAL agreed to have their PIAA Qualifiers in play-in games was to have them at the home court of the District 7 team. When District 12 (Philly Public and Catholic) came into the PIAA, the only way to manage the brackets to accommodate those teams, while allowing other districts to keep previous PIAA bids, was to have play-in games. The WPIAL agreed to the proposal IF the play in games were played at the home courts WPIAL team.
In AAAA, the WPIAL gets jobbed. They should get 7 PIAA bids.
How does District 6/9 get 2 PIAA bids in AAAA when they have 4 total teams??
How about District 10 getting 2 PIAA bids when they have 4 teams total???
How about the Pitts City League getting 2 bids when they have like 6-7 AAAA teams?
Dist 6/9, 10, and even the Pitts City League should get one AAAA bid and that's it.
Districts 2/4 also get 2 PIAA bids in AAAA...and there are 3-4 AAAA teams between the two districts. They should get one PIAA bid as well.
The bids that 2-2, 6-2, 8-2, and 10-2 receive should go to the WPIAL (2), and Districts 1 and 3 should get one more each because they have so many more AAAA schools.
...On the other hand, the WPIAL should get rid of the idiotic "Follow The WInner" system for determining PIAA bids, but that's another story.
