Re: NB vs TM boys and girls this week
A few things to remember here dragon, one like you said NBC is also a very good wrestling school,Tussey, well lets just say no. Bailey is a super coach, no arguement here. Funny you compare basketball to the football team,I would venture they have close to the same percentage of wins the past 8 years or so. They also have had similar results in the playoffs. What I and many others see as the problem is lack of guards ,you need a good ball handler and passer to get the stud athletes the ball. If you don't have guards forget it. Just have to disagree. I don't see it as coaching.dragonfootball2001 wrote:Oldguy, I woukd almost guarantee Barry Crawford's career win percentage vs Dave Bailey and the Titans is sub .200 and it's certainly sub .300. If NB is happy being a wrestling dominated school in the winter, then fine, they've built a great wrestling program in Loysburg and should be proud of it. But look at what two strong coaching staffs, with Batzel in football, and Marcus Yeatts in soccer, can do at a A school. The NB boys have had great success recently in both fall sports. It's years like this, when NB has a talented, athletic team in the court, that it's sad the coaching staff isn't stronger. Dave Bailey overachieves with down teams, while NB continues to underperform with one of the most talented teams in the district. That's a coaching problem.

Yeah I found dragonfootball's post odd as well. I don't feel its a coaching problem at Northern it could be other things. Bailey's an animal and successful he gets those wins he shouldn't.
Why?

Oldguy, this year, NB is weak at guard, agreed. Are they always weaker at guard than the Titans every year? Absolutely not. The head to head vs Bailey speaks for itself.
I'm not sure what you're getting at with basketball and football at NBC. The win percentages in the regular season for those teams are not even close. Over the past four years the Panthers have a win percentage over .750 in football, it may even be closer to .800. This is not the case in basketball.
Goodwill..."it could be other things." Great analysis buddy, thanks for your input, really deep.
Ridge just put everyone (NBC in particular) on notice in D5 AA with that win over the Titans. Are the guards at Ridge better than at NB? Yes, but guess what else is better too...the coaching staff.

So, based on all this, HOPE for Hyndman just REALLY put everyone on notice (Win AT CR) and they have the best coaching staff of all, right?

Again I will just have to disagree. I think you are barking up the wrong tree if you think it is a coaching issue at nbc.dragonfootball2001 wrote:Oldguy, this year, NB is weak at guard, agreed. Re: NB vs TM boys and girls this week
I love how people can come on here and bash a coach. Coach Crawford is a GREAT role model for his athletes. I think that is the first and most important aspect. I don't know what his overall record is but I am sure he is well above .500 for his career. Coach Bailey is a tremendous coach and has been doing this for a long time. Tussey has gotten the better of NB in basketball as NB has gotten better of Tussey in football. Big deal. That alone makes coach Crawford a bad coach? You have to be kidding me. Tussey with coach Bailey as head coach has been beating Bedford County and District V teams for years.
You ask any player that played for Coach Crawford and you will not hear one negative comment. Anyone from NB that has said anything negative about Coach Crawford are probably parents whose kid wasn't that good but in their eyes was some all star player who got screwed or basically have no clue what they are talking about.
Dragon you have come on here before saying negative things about NB. You are entitled to your opinion and I get that. But they don't come any better than Coach Crawford.

Re: NB vs TM boys and girls this week
You have to play with the hand you are dealt and coaches aren't miracle workers. Nbc has a lot of talent I agree, but I don't see the legit 3 guards that you need to be successful on that team. They have tall athletic kids and no legit guards this year. That is why teams are beating them, not the coach. He can't go out and play point guard and dish it to these kids. He just can't pull a point guard out of the hat. You play the hand you are dealt. Bailey is a great coach, but his team lost games this year also because he doesn't have the overall talent that they usually do. He needs some tall kids under the basket, but has good guards. Mix those two teams and you solved the problem They would go far. Some teams have it all and some are lacking at certain positions or depth to be great always, especially at the smaller schools. Also those nbc kids are 3 sport standouts. If they only played hoops year round for the coach, I bet he would hone their dribbling skills like some kids on other teams that just play 1 or 2 sports.

What I think is funny is the fact that people who are cowards come on here and hide behind a screen name and make posts criticizing coaching. I guess everyone is entitled to his or her opinion on this website hence the name. Dragonfootballfan I am wondering what your credentials are? Have you won 5 little league championships? Coach AAU? Coach a youth football team and run the no huddle wishbone, maybe? I bet you just played in the band and know nothing about high school athletics. My advice to you is, since you know so much send that resume to NB to coach Bball and to Tussey to coach football. I am sure the administration would love to have someone of your caliber on staff. I think your some coward that just likes to stir the pot!
