Eliminating program
Re: Eliminating program
That was Blacklick Valley, the bad thing is for them Serra Catholic is very young this season and the Vikes would probably be very competitive if not win. Bishop Canevin is driving the same distance to play United.
Re: Eliminating program
Yes. This is something the "really want to play" players should look into .....today!LionDad wrote:Didn't the PIAA make a rule a year or two ago that if you have played a varsity sport and the school eliminates it that you can transfer to another school without penalty?

Looks like Brentwood and Windber is going to happen. Should be a very good game.

nice to see Char Houston vs Conemaugh Twp is going to happen. Brentwood vs Windber is the heavyweight fight of the bunch.IMABIMAB wrote:Looks like Brentwood and Windber is going to happen. Should be a very good game.

Re: Eliminating program
This is just the beginning. Ferndale, CV, etc will all follow suit sooner or later. Video games, concussions, absentee parents, entitlement mentality, etc on top of continuing falling numbers spells the end of football in most WESTPAC schools as well as other small school conferences across PA. Other states (Ohio, Virginia for example) consolidated districts years ago and are not facing this issue.
OR... they could keep their "seperate independent identities" and "proud traditions".................and change the rules....say, shorten the game to two 10 minute quarters to give the 12 kids they beg to come out ....the "football experience". You know...take the culture of uncompetitiveness to the next level with a special "small school football set of rules" that allows the Ferndale's of the world to remain "seperate and independent".
But, is football a reason to consolidate school districts? Kids don't need football when they have video games. They can play Madden football and get the same thing out of it if they move their legs a little. They also have gym class, right?

Re: Eliminating program
Pretty ironic that if the opponents of Rockwood and Imani all did play each other, that Berlin and Clairton would play in Week 9.

[quote="knowitall"]The team scheduled to play Ferndale would just then play the team scheduled to play Rockwood if that team is unable to schedule another game.
Sounds simple, but that would have Meyersdale and Portage playing a home and home on consecutive weeks

Re: Eliminating program
BV would do the same with CV.
It's not ideal but it has happened in weeks 10 and 11 before.

Re: Eliminating program
I don't see that game happening unless Berlin wants to travel to Clairton. The coaches just wants a bye week to get fresh for the playoffs.lhacbigfan wrote:Pretty ironic that if the opponents of Rockwood and Imani all did play each other, that Berlin and Clairton would play in Week 9.
Re: Eliminating program
Conemaugh Twp @ Char Houston is a done deal per Jason Mackey. The Cali-Ferndale matchup is close
