And lets face it. It's a skill / hobby. Not a sport. This is coming from an avid hunter. I'm not even the smallest bit athletic anymore. But I do well in deer and Turkey season. Does this make me an athlete? No. I can't walk up a flight of stair without getting winded.

Well this is kind of bogus. Kids who are between 14-18. Kids that could hunt when they were 12. This is the type of argument that is brought to school board meetings by people with nothing better to do.

Not a sport..we'll the Olympics don't have forensics or debate teams, but they do have shooting. Can you hit a quarter at 50 ft without a large scope in a standing position? Takes a lot of skill to hold steady to make accurate shots. If you don't call it a sport, then it's a club and should still be allowed the same as band or chorus.

Schools don't promote violence, but they let kids beat the hell out of each other on the football field and wrestling mat. Is this hypocritical too? Maybe, but I'm not gonna tell them they should stop playing football because we don't like the violence.

The Surgeon General and Supreme Court will do that soon enough, with all the head banging injuries. BTW, if leading with the head was outlawed, they'd soon learn to tackle properly and cut way back on the injuries. That's a whole OTHER can of worms. Maybe kids should follow the Amish, with rope jumping and hoop rolling and chip flipping.

Are marching bands still allowed to have rifle units in their band fronts?

Those that do have fake wooden or plastic rifles. Little or no metallic ordinance.
