Haha Enzo you make me laugh! I'm willing to bet the boys at Steel Valley are laughing as well. Steel Valley will beat them by 30+ points. If LV makes it that far.

If LV wins D6, they would most likely have to get by state powerhouses Dunmore and Southern Columbia just to get to Hershey and play Steel Valley.

If Ligonier makes it to play Steel Valley, then they'll be a lot better than I thought because that would mean a win over Southern Columbia like lhacbigfan mentioned. The same Southern Columbia program that destroyed Aliquippa in Hershey last year.

GoldenRamsFan...that might be the dumbest post to date..."it doesn't matter because Steel Valley will beat them by 30+ points anyways"...well , hell let's cancel all playoffs for all classifications...let's cancel college football as well because Alabama will beat everybody again this year...cancel the NFL too, cause we all know the Patriots are the best...nice one GoldenRamFan...

What happened last yr when BG played Farrel? What was the score DCor? How about the Southern Columbia Aliquippa game? Same thing will happen this year if and that's a BIG IF LV plays Steel Valley. Open your eyes, it happens every year that a team is blown out in the finals.

Hell 3 out of 4 last year were blowouts.

If you really think LV has any chance to win states you might be the most delusional person I've ever came across.

All DCor said was that they need to have the kids play the games before we anoint anybody champion.  Washington and Neshannock have a good chance to win the AA WPIAL.  Let's let the kids play the game.  westernpafootball.com has LV #1 in the west.  PennLive.com has LV #4 in the state.  Pafootballnews.com has LV #4 in the state.  So - it is not delusional to say that LV has a chance to win the states.  They are not the favorites - and they probably will not win.  But to say someone is delusional if they think there is a chance - that is flat out wrong and arrogant.  Let the kids play.  Its like the other thread where guys are saying BG will (not probably will) win D6A.  The kids read this site.  Let them figure it out on the field.

Anything can happen when you are talking 17 - 18 year olds.  Remember a few years ago Imhotep Charter a few years ago was ranked nationally and was supposed to beat South Fayette by 50 and it turned out the exact opposite.  You never know.

I think before anyone can talk a state championship, you need to get through districts first. Anyone left at this point needs four wins just to even get to Hershey.

Preview from the Tribune Review

http://triblive.com/sports/hssports/foo ... ey-hilltop

It will be a contrast of offensive styles Friday when Westmont Hilltop battles Ligonier Valley in a PIAA District 6 Class 2A semifinal.

No. 1 Ligonier Valley (11-0) likes to spread things out and give senior quarterback Collin Smith the run/pass option. Smith has thrown for 33 touchdowns and rushed for 15 more. The Rams are averaging 51.7 points.

No. 4 Westmont Hilltop (7-4) tightens things down and runs the ball behind a two-tight end and two-slotback set. The Hilltoppers run for an average of 273.1 yards and score 23.7 points per game.

Keeping the ball away from the Ligonier Valley offense will be their plan, as they hope to utilize a good ground attack to eat up the clock. Westmont Hilltop knows it can't afford to fall behind the Rams, who have allowed 30 points all season.

“They want to play in a phone booth, and we want to play in space,” Ligonier Valley coach Roger Beitel said. “Most offenses now try to create vertical seams. They want horizontal seams.

“We can't let them have eight- or nine-minute drives and score. We have to steal a possession or two.”

Westmont Hilltop, which defeated West Shamokin in the District 6 opening round last week, has won six of its past seven games after losing three in a row early. The Hilltoppers opened with a wild 45-34 victory against Forest Hills and then dropped consecutive games to Bishop Guilfoyle (35-7), Penn Cambria (28-0) and Johnstown (28-27). Their only loss down the stretch was to No. 3 Bishop McCort (23-13).

“We're not going to change no matter what the score is,” Westmont Hilltop coach Pat Barron said. “We're going to play our game no matter what. If we're playing a lot of defense, that's not good.”

In the 10 games Ligonier Valley has played, only one didn't result in the mercy rule — a 35-point or more lead in the second half. That was a 41-12 victory against Purchase Line in a downpour.

“We need to play our game,” Beitel said. “I've watched them on film, and I'm sure they've seen every defense imaginable. We're going to do what we do well.

“They're going to try to limit our possessions. We like to try seven possessions per half. They'll try to limit us to five or six the entire game. We have to take advantage of our possessions.”

Smith, a West Virginia recruit as a safety, has completed 99 of 161 passes for 2,073 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Sophomore wide receiver Aaron Tutino has enjoyed consecutive four-touchdown performances. He has caught 32 passes for 868 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Tutino has benefitted from the return of junior wide receiver Jackson Daugherty, who has 21 catches for 409 yards. Daugherty missed the first six games with a hand injury.

“We've seen a lot of spread teams in our conference,” Barron said. “We haven't seen any teams with their overall team speed.”

Westmont Hilltop has a trio of backs who have rushed for more than 570 yards. Sophomore Camden Moors leads the way with 1,178 yards and 13 touchdowns on 207 carries. Senior Ian Valente has rushed for 828 yards and eight scores.

The Hilltoppers average 23 passing yards per game.

“They played a flawless game last week against West Shamokin,” Beitel said. “We have to force them to make mistakes.”

I've never said one time that LV will win states...but, isn't that every kids dream that plays high school football? I'm no football genius like most of you guys but I do know that upsets happen every week...I also know this, the only team that can beat LV Friday night is Westmont and vice versa...let the kids play and hope for a clean entertaining game...kick the ball!!!
