Bballfan, please don't compare the culture at Bellwood with that of Clairton. Coach Wade has a history of doing this and let's not forget how his team reacted after losing to BG two years ago. You are literally comparing apples to oranges. As far as the reporter calling out the ref, are you ok when a 16 year old misses a foul shot at the end of the game and his or her name is printed in the next days edition? Why isn't ok to print the refs name for not rising to the occasion? Bottom line, the ref (who was a PAID professional) in the opinion of the reporter and other observers blew a call that determined the outcome of the District 6 AA Championship game. Give Coach Swaney some slack...

Interesting.  You don't think that nearly every coach at one point or another has wanted to complain about refs?  Blame them for some missed calls?  Sure they do but most have more class than that.  I'm not comparing apples to oranges as it's pretty to the point that it was publicly shaming officials.  As a matter of consistency within the PIAA I was posing the question as if it should be reviewed.  Basically what you're saying is allow everyone 3 strikes and on the third we can slap their hand and say don't do that.  Maybe not 4 games but I'm saying look into it.  It was not a very classy move from a coach that I generally view as having it.  I'm not cutting anyone slack that says "I dont usually complain BUT...".  Swallow your ego and move on.

Why should the official get a pass for making a call that he was out of position for? We are quick to criticize the play on the floor so if a paid member of the event messses up then he/she should be fair game.  If the reporter didn't want to elicit such provocative comments from coach Swaney then he wouldn't have asked when the emotions of a hard fought, well played game were still raw.  I guess that is today's gotcha journalism.

since we are talking about refs(and bad ones) the refs who did the forest hills vs beaver girls game last night at richland may have been the worst refs ive ever seen in varsity sports. i didnt have a horse in the race, so these comments arent biased. all 3 were bad and missed calls for both teams. but let me male this clear, the refs did not decide the outcome however. fh smashed beaver. and i really enjoyed watching fh play great team ball. especially on D
