And if using hijacked airplanes as a weapon had never been imagined, why did national security planners defend against that contingency when planning the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta?

I want to commend those of you in the current "becoming politically aware" generation. Stick up for your president, he's the first one in oh, 10 years with the cojones to show the rest of the world "Don't (mess) with us! We're not going to take it! As for the unfortunate deaths, DON'T EVER FORGET- they died for your rights to live, say, and do whatever it is you live, say, and do. BTW- how many people were killed in auto accidents yesterday? How many were injured or killed by crackheads in the cities (or elsewhere)? If the war over Iraq was for oil, then why does the prices keep going up? We're in charge there now, right? The GOVERNOR of Alaska has declared they are going ahead with further drilling in Alaska regardless what the Feds are going to do. Our wheat-belt Senators that pushed through the Farm Aid Bill a few years ago are responsible for farmers getting paid to NOT grow corn, a source for alcohol, with which to supplement gasoline and make it cleaner-burning. There is even a drag racer named Mark Thomas who runs with the top (methanol) alcohol dragsters but the difference is he runs on ETHANOL, the byproduct of CORN! We should have turned over our interests in international politics to the United Nations, right? Well, how many BILLIONS of our dollars do you think ended up in Saddam's treasure trove because of the FOOD FOR OIL campaign after the "91 war? Current UN Secretary Koffi Annan was in Saddam's back pocket and profitted royally from his thievery. Why do you think untold many from around the world didn't and still don't want us over there upsetting their gravy train? Today Condoleeza Rice put the liberal inquisitors in their place at the hearing over the 9-11 attack. If you only watch CNN, MSNBC, the major networks (except FOX), or read the USA TODAY, NEW YORK TIMES, WASHINGTON POST, you're never going to get the WHOLE picture, only the liberal leftwing slants on everything. For a generous dose of the real truth, tune into any of the many talk radio hosts or Hannity & Colmes on TV. Believe me- up until pre-'91 Gulf War, I didn't much give a rat's hiney about American politics, but I've since had my eyes opened REAL wide , especially by the deceptions perpetrated by (mostly) the liberals. Chappaquiddick? Blue dress & cigars? Bob Torricelli? Dan Rostenkowski? I can find a whole lot more. While the right wing are no angels, go ahead and fire away I prefer the CONSERVATIVE philosophy any day. LESS governmental control and make people have to earn their way in the world, instead of expecting handouts from the government. Can you say welfare? The Great Society? Affirmative Action? Losers all.

And everyone wants to blame the poor economy on Bush. If you all recall, the economy was starting to go in the crapper during the summer of Clinton's last year, and was a train wreck (couldn't stop it) by December 2000. I knew then that when Bush took office a month later it would all be laid on his shoulders, even though he had nothing to do with it.

Finally we have a president that isn't afraid to stand up. Anyone remember Somolia? Clinton pulled those guys out of there within a week at the first sign of trouble, leaving those guys to wonder why in the hell did they even fight the battle in the first place, losing 18 soldiers.

All you liberals are standing back now saying it's being mishandled. But if Iraq had "lost" some WMD to other terrorist groups, you'd be wondering why no action was taken. The 9/11 commission is drilling them now for not doing something pre 9/11. Could you imagine what the liberals would be saying if we attacked Afghanistan before 9/11? They'd be screaming that there's nothing a 3rd world country could do to us so leave 'em alone. What is it going to be people?

And to end my rant, here is a quote from Slacker that forced me to weigh in "yes we want to know what W. knew but guess what we never will, and since you think that bin laden will attack us with WMD , he wouldn't".

Are you trying to tell me that flying planes into towers isn't a WMD? Tell that to the families. Tell the families of those killed by Saddam, which is hundreds of thousands, that the chemicals weren't really that bad. Just go buy some guns and you'll be able to protect yourself from that green mist falling from the sky. Tell the families of those tortured by Saddam's gangsters and the Taliban that the US shouldn't have booted their butts out in the street. Talk to those families and maybe you will develop some common sense here.

let me get this straight.we want to know why we didn't stop the sept 11th attacks by using force based on intelligence information. but at the same time we are protesting the iraq war because we attacked them based on intelligence.

hurling personal insults aimed at a group of users mental abilities never helps to win converts to your liberal ways, but rather shows your true colors.

The First Amendment is the most important- without our freedoms, we're nothing. Yet the Liberals are seeking to redefine even that, by getting that no-campaigning-whatcha-macallit 60 days before the election. There goes your freedom of speech. This was pushed through by a majority of LIBERAL SUPREME COURT JUDGES! Their interpretation is what defined the final wording of this terrible piece of "legislation". Federal Judges ARE NOT ALLOWED BY LAW TO CREATE LAW, yet this is what they've done here. Every time GWB tries to get a conservative Judicial nominee appointed to the bench, the DEMOCRATS have just enough votes along with a couple Republican turncoats to shoot down the nomination. Stay tuned to the EIB network.

Yes White Shadow, and our current president, George W. Bush signed that legislation into law, knowing full well it was unconstitutional, but letting it go by, figuring maybe the Supreme Court would strike it down. They did not. Also, the Patriot Act is a violation of the 4th Amendment concerning searches without a warrent. And there are numerous violations of the Second Amendment, which the founding fathers intended to defend our freedoms from those that would take them away. I don't believe that either of the parties, Democratic or Republican, have our best interests at heart. And for the gun owners on here, G.W. is trying to get the 'assault weapons' act from 1994 renewed. I trust neither G.W. or Kerry, and as I stated at the start of the thread, I am going to vote Libertarian.
