The Lakers are a flickering candle.
This is their last hurrah.
I wouldn't say that yet. It is possible that Malone, Payton, Kobe, and Phil could come back. So I definitely wouldn't say that until it's for sure they don't break up. Kobe is the best player in the league. Rednwhite10 you must not watch much basketball. He's going to have his 4th NBA championship here in a few weeks. AND HES ONLY 25!!!! He's got a least 10 years left. He WILL win more championships than Jordan. I don't think he'll ever be as good as Jordan, but he isn't that far away from him. If he didn't have good players around him, he'd score 45 or 50 points a night.

Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that Kobe wont win the championship this year and wont ever win as many championships as Jordan.
The Lakers are like the Yankees they buy their way into the championship.
And you are right about one thing....Kobe isnt as good as Jordan and he'll never be as good as Jordan.

A couple points.
The Yankees dont buy their way into a championship. Spending money alone does not guarantee another World Series. If they win its because they played well enough to win.
Its way to early to make definitive statements about Kobe Bryant. Somebody will surpass Jordan someday and right now Kobe is in the conversation.

Thanks to a superb performance from Kareem Rush (6/7 from 3 point land) the Lakers are moving on to their 4th final in 5 years. KG and his 'troops' just couldn't get it done in the 4th quarter... Finals start next Sunday... looking for a short series in the Lakers favor!

Yeah the Lakers made it. Props to the TWolves for a valiant effort.
Looks like the Pistons match up the best. It is going to be a real physical series with a lot of Shaq whining.

rush is a gunner. no doubt about that. im not suprised he made the big shots. im not suprised the lakers won in 6. KG and spreewell had good performances but the third scorer didnt show up for the wolves. like phil jackson said, the t-wolves were playing w/o cassel and hudson and couldnt compensate for those losses.
the finals will most likely be the lakers/pistons. the first game will be the tell-all. it will be in LA and if detroit can make it a close game, they will make it a 6/7 game series and could possibly win. detroit plays great defense and if chauncey billups hits some shots and rasheed wallace gets some touches in the paint, they will be a formidable opponent for LA. there are a lot of if's that detroit's success depends upon.

You are really going out on a limb by that statement. Who do you think is going to beat the Lakers this year? And why? Do you even watch NBA basketball or are you just a Laker hater like most other people? Also, with Kobe only being 25 and is most likely going to get his 4th championship here in about 2 weeks, how can you be so sure he won't win as many championships as Jordan?

The Pistons will beat the Lakers in 7 games in the championship because they play better team defense and they know what they have to do to get the job done. And of course I watch basketball or i wouldnt care about what was goin on. And I am a Laker hater just like I'm a Yankees hater. Teams with all this money can get whoever they want. Its gonna be a shame when the Lakers lose the championship this year because they have 4 hall of famers on the team. If Kobe doesnt win a championship this year he's most likely goin to another team at least those are the rumors. And he wont be able to win like he does now with out Shaq on his team to draw the attention off of him so he can score.

yea, w/o shaq, kobe is just like tracy mcgrady. he will have a very hard time winning a championship without shaq. lebron james will be the best player in the league in 3-4 yrs. so, i say as soon as the cavs get one more scorer and a few other pieces, lebron will win the nba title as the first eastern conference team to do so since michael jordan and the bulls. two teams from florida may also have a slim chance to do so before that, miami and orlando. miami just needs a solid big guy because they have great players at all other positions and orlando should be getting a solid big guy named emeka okafor who will compliment mcgrady very nicely. if only detroit had drafted carmello....
