The rhino relay was a good show of fun for the teams. After competing hard all night it's fun to have something to sit back and watch and enjoy. It shows that the teams can still get along well enough to have fun together.

Yeah, the relay was alot of fun, just the reason that it was competed there 10. Nobody talking about how great they are or even really caring who won the overall meet. Just a bunch of guys who threw against each other all day and had a good time. And the skinny kid, throws all three during the year, and throws the jav and discus rather well. And i had splits. (his wasnt very impressive, believe me.) And the county meet has been held on the same day for many, many years. It is not scheduled by Ridge just because we host it. And for the record, i belive Bedford will be competing against Rockwood and Shade next week.

Ham, thanks for saying what I was trying to say in a more diplomatic manner. I just don't like any team getting up on their high horse and gloating, even if they are very good. Especially when they think the Laurel Highlands Conference is the best in the country or whatever. That really got me. But anyways, if they win Districts, they'll be entitled to gloat a little, and if they win states, they can gloat however much they want. But the LHAC isn't the best conference around.

Bedford should also try and enjoy the success they are having now as much as they can. I think the reason Bedford is better than Ridge in track boils down to 4 people: John Marshall, Josh Marshall, Derrick Harris, and Troy Harris. Those 4 people are the reason Bedford dominated counties, will likely dominate Districts, and have a shot at the state title. Not to say the rest of the team stinks, but they're a lot easier to beat without those 4 people. And I think that once those 4 people graduate, somebody else will likely be the dominant team of District 5.

Could somebody (jumper22 perhaps) please post the results of the County meet? I have no access to a paper from the Bedford area, being out in Cincinnati, but I would love to see the times and distances run by all the teams.

i think mark boyer (leading shot thrower from ridge) runs a 12 second 100. Pretty impressive!

Flea, I agree completely that John, Derrick, and Troy are the key to Bedford's success (not sure why you included Josh Marshall in that mix), but this team has incredible depth. Take, for example, the 4 x 4 relay team. Last night, Bedford ran a kid, Preston Lohr, who has never, ever competed with the main relay team. He went out and ran a .55 400 and helped Bedford to a 2 second win over the Ridge 4 x 4 team. Basically, at any given meet the coaches could select 3 guys (Troy Harris is the only constant member) from a hat filled with about 8 different names and field a very competitive relay team.
There's no denying that Troy, Derrick, and John are the backbone of the team, but the rest of the athletes get much needed points that propel Bedford to victories like the 56 point one they just had over Ridge yesterday.

i agree with 11th man

no harris won the pole vault or jav or shot or 400
3200 relay is 2nd in D5 no harris or marshall there either
the harris brothers and marshall ( I won't include Josh here yet)
are leaders that have set the bar high for the bedford team and the rest of the team has stepped up.
