I guess if you dont see her in in 11 years, she's not really a part of your life. That doesn't mean the kid didn't grow up without a mom, though. It's still hard.

Give me a break. Here's the choice. Living in the U.S. since age 8 with daddy, or living in war torn and corrupt Liberia with MOM. OH, it was hard alright. Deciding which sneakers to buy while MOM fights for her life every day. Oh and by the way, Hali is the only athlete in the U.S. to have grown up with either a Mom OR a Dad, but not both.

Let's not make it out like this kid's mother is some kind of general in the resistance. I doubt she's doing much fighting in the "Hell-hole".

For the record. I don't go out of my way to follow Penn State football. That being said, I assume Hali is a Senior. Sometime in the last 4 or 5 years, when he was being recruited, some recruiter had to ask: What about your Mom? After explaining her situation, I'm sure the recruiter COULD have gone back to his bosses or an enterprising unnamed rich BOOSTER and tried to help her get to the land of milk, honey, and football. I too find it hard to accept that nothing has been done till now or the near future on HER behalf.

Here's what I can't believe. He's been in OUR country since age 8, why isn't he a citizen yet? Were he and his dad living off the rest of us? And, after reaping all the fruits of living here, is he signed up for selective service like the rest of us? There are alot of discrepancies here, more than the sad story of being raised without a mother.

He has been trying to get her to come over, and has said when he graduates he'll probably be able to get her a green card.

Let's please not make this out like PSU has illegal players on their team.

I'm impressed with the college recruiting budgets that allow scouts to go overseas to recruit players from ALL sports that nobody EVER heard of. I know Hali's been here since 8. What- couldn't JoePa out-recruit the other Big 10 teams for "home-grown" talent?
