Take a joke Crimson, the point of my post was Terrelle knew he made a mistake going to Ohio State. He was sitting on that bench at that exact moment saying "I should have went to Penn State. My college career is gonna be like Jimmy Clausens..wahhhh"

Pats, you are right I do not disagree....westy and richland do have good education programs and send their kids to college on scholarship. However, you did agree that mccort doesn't recruit. So obviously the kids leave the public schools on their own. Also, the kids that leave the private schools to go to public schools also leave on their own discression. Mccort doesnt "take" players away from schoools. So if schools are upset that kids leave their school...it sounds to me to be more of a personal problem than anything.

It is an unfair advantage that if a kid is pissed off at his coach or whatever he can just pack his bags and go to McCort anytime, and this continually happens at Bishop McCort. I am saying that yes they may never get cited for official recruiting in terms of PIAA, they still have a definite unfair advantage.

the recruiting discussion is so played out, just discuss exactly what you know to be fact about the process if you have anything to say. For instance if an athlete decides he would like to check out a catholic school he may sign a paper saying he was not recruited or something of this nature then the athlete (student) is able to have unlimited contact with administrators and coaches and it does not violate PIAA rules. If the athlete decides not to enroll no one will really have to know he signed that paper or went there in the first place. Many of you who state mccort should play up are in fact correct, where you are wrong is that it would crush our areas football as we know it. Because if they did play WPIAL AAAA or D6 AAAA for that matter they would be able to "recruit" or whatever u call it all the areas talent. Lets look at it this way why did Shane Rugg go to mccort? b/c they have sent more kids to d-1 schools and always go into the playoffs. He got to play against Steve Greene and Dave Istanich. How many more people would go and from how far if they played against McDevitt and Altoona? Currently they really are just a few players away from being competitive with lower tier AAA or AAAA teams if a few more Ruggs and Wadleys transfer in who knows...

Just think about some of the players over the years that have went from catholic grade schools to public high schools. I mean almost half of omos goes to westmont. And I personally consider OMOS kids to be mccort kids. So mccort cant even recruit their own kids. Just to name a few over the years that have made the switch: the mezyks, the omahnes, the stephensons, matt cowan, battaglias, chessa, joe balog... dave and mike galluci, ed stofko, casey long, kurt hoffman all went to johnstown.
I just dont know what mccort does that gives people the idea that they recruit. If someone can explain what they do that gives people the idea that they recruit, I would love to hear it. Has anyone ever thought that parents may send their kids to mccort because maybe mccort does a better job of sending kids to college than other public schools. Millions of scolarship dollars is offered to mccort graduates every year. Mccort's focus is to continually upgrade their school in every way possible to help make their kids better off in the present and future. Thats why kids go there. If thats recruiting...then so be it.
I'm pretty sure when people talk about recruiting, all those names that you brought up aren't brought up because all of those westmont kids live in the westmont school district...I'm not sure where the johnstown kids live but i'm sure it's in the johnstown school district. people usually target kids such as the lewis', who lived in sidman, and other cases like that.

First of all who the hell cares about those people you named.lol. ed stofko.lol. the mezyks. they were alrite players in basketball and this aint a basketball area so who the hell cares. And the Lewis's didn't want to go to FH for a variety of reasons, but one thing for sure was the fact that shawn lewis felt out of place being the only minority in FH and needed academic help and his dad did work in the catholic school system. Academically and Athletically FH and a lot of other public schools in area aren't as good as mccort FACE IT! But if a parent wants to pay 2-3-4,000$ dollars to give their child a chance to have an advantage on other kids in the area Athletically or Academically that is definitely their business and none of any of yours or my business! And the Wadley's Dulla and Isa come from extreme urban circumstances and Mccort not only helped them with more attention than a public school academically but suprise they can play sports as well. I know a number of kids from johnstown that would have done so much better at mccort ACADEMICALLY and ATHLETICALLY but their parents wouldn't and couldnt pay the tuition. So if a parent wants to attempt to send their child to mccort knowing all that then God bless them they really want their child to succeed period.

Real Talk you are a tool bag. To sit here an say that McCort is better then every public school is really stupid. Ya they have won the past two D6 AA championships but other then that what have they done to be better then the public schools. And FYI Mr. Lewis was an administrater in the Bishop Carrol School District. I wonderhow Bishop McCort pulled Shawn and Scott away from BC.
Also where is your information that McCort is a better institution acedemically then the public schools. Please enlighten us with all of your information.

Its better if you people have facts or know the actual situation before writing stuff on here.
regardless the Lewis' didnt transfer...they finished the year at Forest Hills and then enrolled at McCort...its the same if you go to St. Benedict's then go to Richland...there is no difference. But even after all that thats not recruiting. They chose to go there. SO why is this family's choice so critical to all of you? And besides the fact....they both graduated its a done issue...worry about whats going on right now.
To say McCort is a better institution is more of an opinion...McCort does have a great graduation rate....McCort does put you into college. And McCort in terms of football will help you pursue a career at the next level...whether it be d3 or d1.
But coming from a McCort fan...without football the school would shut down that is a fact. But that would be the case with most schools. We live in a football based community.
