FYI i witnessed Roberts 2 years ago in a legion game hit 90 on multiple occasions.... Last year he injured his arm in the first game, and was rehabbing all year, look for him to bring the gas back this year! And harrington i seen him hit 88 89 before so he'll bring some gas this year too!

Baseball34, thanks for that info. I think most of us have heard the "George Roberts hit 90" story but I've never heard any specific details on it. Was that a regular season Legion game or one of the All-Star tryouts?
As I mentioned before, we was in the mid 80's last fall on a variety of guns I saw him on but I'm sure he's working hard all winter and wish him the best of luck. In the long run, that kind of velocity might not really matter for him because his future is probably as a middle infielder. In any case, great kid with great baseball instincts.

That was a regular season legion game.... i am a family friend "great family' and have watched George grow up from a little kid running around with a ball and bat in his hand his whole life! He was hitting high 80's to 90 mph in a couple different games... he pitched the first game last year in high school it was like 47 outside... he threw a bullpen 3 days before because he wasnt supposed to be the opening pitcher last year with all the pitching they had ( poor coaching in my opion) from that game on he had arm pain and was going through rehab all last year.. i am willing toi bet with how big he has gotten this winter he will throwing high 80's to low 90's this year in fact i am willing to barder a little bet... any takers?

Are we talking speed or best pitchers? if we are talking strictly speed this is what i know..
John Fees hits 88 consistently
Austin Urban hits about 85-86 most of the time
Roberts throws at 86 consistently
Bobby Carbaugh throws in the low to mid 80s at about 83-85
Harrington hits 85 here and there and same with Reivel
Mario Deulis throws in the mid 80s maybe 84
Vescovi tosses 83-84 (doesn't throw much-catcher)
Now only about 3 of those guys are good pitchers from game to game

Three of the above mentioned are D1. Harrington (already there), Roberts (Already there), Urban (will sign D1 next year). Write that down.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Re: LHAC pitchers 2009
A lot of RH kids throw upper-80s...The key is location and movement. Even at D3 colleges, you're not going to blow the better hitters away throwning 88 with no movement or location. A D1 pitcher can throw low-90s, and if it's straight as a string, he will get hammered.
Now, a lefty throwing high-80s with movement and location is a draftable prospect.
