everyones houdning bettis..WHY!!!!!what has he done that deserves to be gone?? when you give bettis the ball and play a steeler game, run run run, he gets his 100 yds. and the 'lers get the win. What can you complain about??? so what if he only gets 3-4 yds a carry, and his biggest run of the day is 12-15 yds. Who cares. Its not the show he puts on that we care about, its if we get the big W! that what should matter, and bettis still has the gas in his tank for one or two more years of pound the hell out of the ball, and control the clock..By doing that, it will open up the passing attack for maddox burress and ward. then they can throw in all the fun plays with randel el and the rest of them.
Argg, Pirates.

the steelers need a new offensive line i think tommy maddox could be realyl good if he had protection because if u have time he wont throw interceptions or get sacked. Their linbackers are very good theyre probably the best 4 in the nfl. They need defensive backs and a Defensive line. They should pick up Corey Dillion in free agency and probably Warren Sapp. If they do that and get a secondary i think they will be unstoppable

some of u guys are missing something here. the steelers definately need to better their running game. they also need to improve on their pass protection. i think the obvious answer to both these problems is to get the best offensive lineman available. after that, they need to look at the defensive secondary. that has been a weakness for the past 2 yrs. there are some good corners available as free agents that would fill the role.

Hope you guys don't mind a new poster jumping in...huge Steeler fan here.
While I'm aware of the Steelers' problems on offense, to me, it all begins and ends on the defensive side of the ball. I am so sick of watching receivers running free in our secondary and marginal NFL quarterbacks looking like All-Pro's. Bringing LeBeau back was a step in the right direction----now they have to get him some players.
My first pick, if he's available, would be Sean Taylor, free safety from Miami. A ball-hawking playmaker that would bring instant attitude to the defense. NFL ready right now and probably the best athelete in a very deep draft.
Second--I'd do some free agent shopping for one of the many top notch corners that'll be on the market--Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey, Sean Springs and Ty Law who will not be in New England next year. Law would be the one I'd go after--Aliquippa guy that literally took away his half of the field during the play-offs and three picks against the Colts.
Third--they HAVE to find a replacement for Gildon--hopefully, either Haggans or Alonzo Jackson. If Jackson justifies his second round pick and turns out to be the pass rusher he was projected to be--this is a play-off caliber defense for sure. These moves allow Porter and Bell to be the attack linebackers that they are instead of reading and reacting and covering backs in the flats. Even Porter said last year--they have to take the cuffs off.
Still plenty of picks and options to fill other needs but I don't want to get TOO long winded.
