Joe Acurio Resigns from Ferndale Football head coach
Re: Joe Acurio Resigns from Ferndale Football head coach
 My brother was on that team and i can tell you that it was the lineman that made that team good, they had the best size out of any team in the westpac and they easily could of hung with any lhac team trust me. and goisovich was a terrible coach who knew of nothing, it was the line that carried the team and eric blue was one of the best QB's in the whole area.
Yeah! And my Mom was a former cheerleader and my Dad is related to the head custodian ...............so I agree with whatever this guy said!!

They have penna now too and he is a really good coach, i've watched him coach Johnstown he knows what hes talking about and what hes doing. i think hes going to be a good thing for the Ferndale team.

I think Penna Jr's biggest problem is his effort to be too "multiple." This means that he has so many formations (and so few plays) that the formation basically dictates which play will be run. With enough film, Penna becomes so far past predictable that opposing defenses look Tom Brady behind center.
Penna's bread and butter has always been the sweep. This worked (out of all formations) because Johnstown usually had a guy that could get the corner. If Ferndale is looking to turn their program around, I don't believe that this is the guy to do it.

Ever think he actually ran that because he had burners who could 'round the corner? I think ya need to give this guy a chance before you write him off completely. :?Langhorne Clemens wrote:Penna's bread and butter has always been the sweep. Ferndale Football is a joke! Does it really matter who takes over as the Head Coach? This programs last glory days was when coach Gois and his staff lead the jackets to a 6-3 record with wins over windber and undefeated blacklick that year. Gois and his staff did the best coaching I have ever seen! To take a team with 24(2kids from sweeden!) kids with no size(qb was 5ft 6in 135lbs) nor speed( only 2 kids ran under a 5.0 forty time) and win six games! This was an awesome job!You can look for Penna jr. to maybe get you two wins this year over shade and cvalley, however, you are never going to see another winning season from Ferndale! :

Ahh, the sweet validation of DWG dissent.
Penna failed with a team that had more talent than anyone they played. Why should we believe that he is going to suceed with a team with a team that has less talent than their opponents.

coachcarter:
Here's some accurate information for you. Windber was actively seeking another scrimmage away from home - a scrimmage which would involve teams similar to those they hope to face down the road. This process began at the conclusion of the 2008 season. As I'm sure you have seen, the Ramblers have run up against WPIAL teams in the recent past (Duquesne, Clairton) and could not match the athleticism. In an effort to be better prepared, they sought and received an invite to a quad-scrimmage in Maryland against some very skilled opponents. Check out this link if you're interested in the opponents they will face. http://www.forthillfootball.net/quad/index.htm
Richland was very neighborly in extending an open invitation to Windber, letting the Ramblers know they were always welcome to be part of the scrimmage with BG. There was no bad blood and Windber certainly did not pull out of the Richland/BG scrimmage because of "bruised ego's".
Hmm... a Windber booster? First of all, what input do you think boosters have at Windber? Do you really believe the decision-makers at Windber discuss athletic scheduling with the boosters? I can assure you this is not the case."Some random news: Talked to a Windber booster and they pulled out of the three way scrimmage with Richland and BG because "they want to play someone who runs most of the time because that's real high school football and that's what they see during the season".

You didn't know, but now you do.I don't know, maybe after last years scrimmage when they were dominated by the Rams they decided not to take a chance of having their ego's bruised again."
