Everyone on this site is going to look silly when Saylor and the Mountaineers light up Clairton and show the true power of the WestPac.

Also, Berlin has proven all season that they're the class of D5. They've had a much tougher schedule, and handled their opponents significantly better than the other three teams left in D5. So this talk about upsets is way out of line. It would be a MAJOR upset for Saylor and the Mountaineers to go down before meeting the WPIAL champion. Northern Bedford, Conemaugh Township, and North Star have shown that they are not in the same zip code as Berlin. The Mountaineers will roll to a D5 A title.

Once again you've heard it here first, crazy as a fox...Berlin 28 Clairton 21 on the legs of Saylor.

I am more worried about NS right now. Keep smoking what you are smoking though. The reason Berlin won't be able to beat Clairton is because of their WR's. They are all over 6' and run 4.4-4.6 range. Berlin's corners won't be able to keep up with them. Berlin would honestly need 2 Ty Stockwells and 2 Ian Sayler's at d-back to even have a chance. Then you gotta worry about RB Brandon Small who is 5'10" 200 lbs. If you shut that down you have Desimon Green to worry about. Berlin just doesn't have enough pure athletes to keep up with Da Bears.

BB i see where your coming from on the comparison.

I mean A football, nobody's line is ever that big. Steve Belskey was McCort's 2nd best arguably best linemen last year, he was no more then 210 pounds.

D5 gets a very tough draw every year, D3 is probably 2nd best and D6 gets them every year. tough draws for our area. Wouldn't it be nice to start with d9?! haha

dragon, thats wishful thinking. I think it'd be pretty cool if D5 can knock off the WPIAL. True David v. Goliath. But the likelihood isn't great.

Ian Saylor is nowhere close to the caliber running back as Seidel or Lowry, I throw Lowry in there because they were the two best running backs in the area the last two years, and Ian doesnt compare to either.

Just look at the competition each back faced in there careers.

Ian is still a very good running back for District 5.

Berries I don't really think the competition they faced has anything to do with how good of a back they are. Some may say that the McCort backs had a better line.

you both make good points, mccort had a better line obviously. but i still think seidel and lowry were both better backs regardless of the line then sayler, but that however does not make sayler any less great

mccort fan who most likely has never seen the kid play, of course you are going to think that, its like when D Carrion tore it up in the West Pac, most people who didnt play against him(LHAC) dont really know how he compares.

Since everybody else is throwing in their .02

The d5 champ will come out pumped and the d7 champ will come out flat as they are looking forward to the next game. However, da Clairton Bears resemble a well oiled machine the way they are rumbling. Most years d5 would come out swinging and pull off a few plays here and there, maybe even have an answer for some aspect of Clairton's game. But this year da bears will flex their well rounded WPIAL muscle and overwhelm D5 in the area they aren't as strong (i.e. pass defense) before they can land any punches.

Prediction: Shade wins d5 and then embarrasses Clairton in an 84-0 romp.
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Let me just say this. Do not make statements about a player that you have never seen play before. Your opinion means nothing. I will say this again and many people agree with this statement, what hurts Sayler the most is his size and area. You get him in an area where more people see him, all your McCort know it alls would have a different opinion. At the next level (depending on how big of a school he goes) I think he will be made into a slot receiver or cornerback. I really think he has all the tools to be a great cornerback at the next level.
