I gotta say I have never seen both crowds ready to lynch two refs ever ...some really bad calls both teams were effected very very slow at calls ..and yes a few adults in the Northern crowd were flipping off the Bedford wrestler .... adults shame on you ...normally Northern bedford crowd is loud but I have found them decent. No school has a perfect crowd not Bedford or anyone else but we all need to remember these are kids stop booing them when they are hurt and never flip them off because they beat one of your wrestlers ...we are suppose to be the grown ups here ...

Whats bad is these people will be back in the stands at districts and doing the same things...NBC has some good people but just a few people can ruin the reputation for an entire school...

Refs - I doubt that anybody disagrees that they were well qualified, gave good effort and traveled far for little pay. However their lack of calling stalling was a significant change from normal officiating and certainly does not help prepare wrestlers for future events when stalling will be called much more aggressively. Additionally the failure of the secondary official to notice the illegal headlock in the Solly/Weyandt match was a major black mark on their performance - that was a safety issue, an item that he should have been focused on, and something that would determine the meet result. Add in the fact that the situation was there to be seen for a long period of time.

NBC fan behavior - when will the good people that make up the majority of the fan base stand up against this nonsense? Ignoring the hooligans' antics has hurt your reputation. If somebody is behaving inappropriately, either mention it to them or to the athletic director's office. The school has tried public comments by the superintendent and the AD, but those methods aren't working. Hopefully the school will review cameras and ask some people questions so that they can suspend the offenders. We are well past the stage of hoping that this won't happen anymore, it is clear to me that disciplinary action needs to be taken to change fan behavior.

I know for a fact there was some flipping-off and foul language used in both Weyandts match and the Suter match because we had to sit with the NBC folk. If you think the 'bird' was bad, you should have heard some of the language being used in the stands....I'm not one to worry about what my 10-year old hears (I'm sure he hears much worse on the school bus), BUT he made the comment 'is this what they'll do to me when I wrestle in high school?". LOL. Well, at least he'll be prepared for it.

I do know that a couple of the Bedford kids need to fight off their backs more if this team is going to make some noise in the duals. Seems like a couple 'give up' when getting turned. They really need to take some pointers from Koontz, who as a freshman, has more mental toughness that most of the upperclass kids.

Gibbons looked great, and I really think has a great shot at a high-placing in States this year. Great kid that deserves it.

The head lock was a little ridiculous but that stuff happens this wasn't the first time I saw a ref miss something like that.NBC just needs to get some class back because this happens in almost every sport.

yeah, I question the knowledge of the rules by the refs. The headlock was illegal for a good while. Creps and Easter are standing on the edge of the mat screaming for the ref to look and when he finally does it takes an additional 5 seconds or so before he stopped the match. They def. were slow with pins and stall calls. I think a mistake was made bringing these guys in. They weren't any better then you can get around here. I think they were equally bad both ways. But, I don't understand why you hire two guys from outside the area, to be non biased when I think one of them was from NBC. Wasn't the last name Beach??

I have kept quiet as long as possible now it's time to let it out. To start with, I in no way what so ever agree with fans flipping off kids or cussing at them. I did not see it happen but it sounds like it did. These fans are probably the ones that come out of the woodwork for the big rival matches and have know idea what happens the rest of the year. Act like adults or stay home.
I also would hope that the Bedford fans don't think that they are the image of great sportsmanship. I heard quit a bit of booing coming from the Bedford fans.
1. when Brallier took injury timeout.
2. when Albright didn't go out against Gibbons
3. during Suters match
I also think Creps needs to be kept in his seat and off the mat during the match.

You hear booing during every HS wrestling meet. I don't boo kids but you hear it from every crowd in every match. I did hear it when he took his (Brallier). I didn't hear booing at 171 towards Albright. I actually saw NBC fans by the end of the 215 match yelling at Suter telling him to get on the mat and wrestle. So I think that booing was coming from both sides. Anyway I hate hearing any booing, especially towards kids. but as I said ALL schools have fans that do it. As far as Creps goes, if he doesn't get up to the mat and scream at the incompetent refs NBC hired, Weyandt gets pinned in an ILLEGAL hold and NBC wins the match.

Anyway booing and flipping a kid off are 2 very different things. What I have seen from SOME NBC fans the last 2 times I've been around them (Saturday night and Districts last year) is pathetic.

kid coach:

Bedford fans certainly aren't angels, but simple booing, an act that occurs at most big matches, pales in comparison to the problems that the NBC fan base has. I'm not buying the "out of the woodwork" line either, with the frequency of documented NBC fan misbehavior.

fwiw, somebody sitting by me mentioned that Brallier would shortly be taking a breather timeout, which he did after the next whistle. I don't even know which fan base this man was with, but he and plenty of other fans do not like the out of gas injury timeouts, even if its 1 of their own wrestlers.

I didn't notice the Albright booing, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was from either side, as NBC's chances of winning the match decreased significantly with that move.

Creps actions likely saved his team the match, as I don't think that the side ref would have acted without his movement. I thought that he might have even stepped on the mat, but (if noticed) the refs (perhaps wisely) didn't penalize him.

If he stepped on the mat he should be penalized..under no circumstance during the coarse of the match is the coach allowed to step on the mat.
