Re: Pitt Basketball
[quote="abpk2903"]I agree with that but I'm trying to compare this team to Penn State's team of last year. Penn State started 3 freshman most of the year having 5 freshman (4 true), 2 sophomores, and 2 juniors in their 9 man rotation. That is about as young as you can get as a college basketball team but they still found a way to win 15 basketball games while playing a rather difficult schedule. They did lose to Albany out of the gate but they also played Duke within 10, beat Georgia Tech, and beat St Johns in the non-conference slate. They also won 6 conference games. The difference that I see (which keep in mind I have only seen Pitt last night) is athletically Penn State could compete. They looked like they belonged on the same floor but they just mad mistakes, took a lot of poor shots, and physically got pushed around by older players. I don't see that with Pitt.[/quote
The difference is the juniors and sophomores have played in the same system and were not thrown to the wolf’s the first game of the season.
Chambers has had 7 season to setup recruiting ties to start bringing good players to PSU and he has.He had some horrendous seasons to start. I’m not saying Stallings is the answer but he came to Pitt with one real ACC caliber player and he transferred, I think he deserves a chance, which he’s not going to get. But no real coach is coming to Pitt with the mess the program is in.

Re: Pitt Basketball
Pitt has like 4 kids now that can compete, maybe 1-2 that could develop over time, and about 7 in over their head entirely.
This also wasn't unexpected, people knew this was a rebuilding year. But knowing it's a rebuilding year and living through it are two different things. Pitt fans hate Kevin Stallings, so it's not like he's getting any sort of a benefit of the doubt either.

apologist: A person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial. You ought to see me defend creation vs evolution.

They actually looked like a basketball team today.
Re: Pitt Basketball
There are several reasons for me to be a Pitt apologist. In this town, the Tribune, Channel 6 and Channel 8 LOVE Penn State. Once in a while, they throw a bone to Pitt fans. But you see it almost every day. When I do stand up for Pitt, or criticize PSU, I use facts as I know them, not opinion. Got to look at the bright side. Around every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. When I read BWIllustrated today about last night's game, the writer stated, "Leaving the young Pitt team to show a semblance of fight, the Nittany Lions ALLOWED the Panthers to score 25 points in the final 8 minutes of the game". ALLOWED??? How generous of them. See what we must contend with. Why should we not fire back? Why should we not defend our team, good or bad. Stallings has his hands full with inexperienced kids. What's he supposed to do? You guys can criticize me about Pitt when I am no longer giving out facts. Until then, I will root, root, root for the home team

You went to read about a Pitt game, on a website that is directed towards Penn State fans...and you are upset about what you saw?El-Moldo wrote: When I read BWIllustrated today about last night's game, the writer stated, "Leaving the young Pitt team to show a semblance of fight, the Nittany Lions ALLOWED the Panthers to score 25 points in the final 8 minutes of the game".
