Re: College Hoops
How can you get any recruits to want to play for you when you only get 30 points in a half? This is basketball!konjo78 wrote:7 points in a half!!! 7... 7???? What the #%÷#. How can you get any recruits to want to play with you based on his first two years.....

Re: College Hoops
Couple of things about the last posts: 1) 7 points in a half? Stallings missed all the shots HE took. 2) As far as recruits is concerned, if you have any kind of talent, come to Pitt. Obviously you can play right away as a freshman instead of riding the pine somewhere else for a few years. 3) How can you compare Pitt to St. Francis? According to Sagarin, Pitt is ranked 191st with an 8-22 record and a SOS of 34. St. Francis is ranked 202nd with a 16-11 record and a SOS of 327 (out of 354 NCAA teams).

Re: College Hoops
Ask KenPom they're his rankings not mine. Craig Meyer from the PPG posted similar tweets as did Cardiac Hill pointing out they are lowest ranked team in Allegheny county "comparing" them to Robert Morris and Duquesne.El-Moldo wrote:Couple of things about the last posts: 1) 7 points in a half? Re: College Hoops
Yes, but again, they do not consider how tough their schedule is. Are you saying that RM and Duquesne have tougher schedules than Pitt in the ACC? All some sports writers and services do is compare win/loss records. You got to look at the whole picture.

Their common games are pretty comparable:El-Moldo wrote:Yes, but again, they do not consider how tough their schedule is. Vs Lehigh- Pitt W 80-68, SFU W 84-70
Vs Mt St Mary's- Pitt W 82-78 OT, SFU L 81-80 OT
@Louisville- Pitt L 77-51, SFU L 84-72
@Duke- Pitt L 81-54, SFU L 124-67
Just because your schedule is tougher doesn't mean much when you are losing mostly all those games by 15+. Would it make a difference if SFU was in the ACC and had a better SOS but also went 0-17? Would that somehow make them a better team?
Re: College Hoops
When Sagarin lists the SOS's of teams, he takes in ALL those factors, such as home losses, how big the loss was, the ranking of the team you lost to, etc etc. Soooo....when Sagarin gives you a SOS ranking of 34, it means a heck of a lot more than a SOS of 327. What else can you say?

Re: College Hoops
Pitt flat out needs a new system. The fact we are talking about them with Saint Francis, not PENN STATE, says enough.
They waited to long on Jamie dixon and hired a bafoon after. The program is a disgrace to pitt fans. No two ways about it

Re: College Hoops
I take offense to Stallings being called a buffoon. I know you guys on here are young, but does anyone remember Casey Stengel? He was the manager of the NY Yankees during the late '40's thru the 1950's. During his tenure, he won the World Series 7 times in 12 years. From 1949-1953, he won the World Series 5 consecutive times. After the 1960 season, he was released after his team lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was then hired as manager by the new expansion team, the New York Mets. In his first year, the Mets went 40-120. For the 4 years he managed the team, he finished in last place EVERY year. Looking back at his career, many said that he was only a good manager when he had good players. You see this a lot. Chambers at PSU finally has a half-decent team because he finally got some good players. Is he that great of a coach? Was Ken Salem a great coach at BM, or did he always have good players? Lay off of Stallings. As I said before, you can't polish a turd.
